Retired General: Some in Military Want to 'Take Out the President'
National Journal ^ | November 1, 2013 | Alex Seitz-Wald

Posted on 11/01/2013 2:14:13 PM PDT by don-o

A former top general and current executive at the Family Research Council says members of the military have considered staging a coup d'état against President, but will not because of civilian control of the military.

"People I've spoken to would like to see the military 'fulfill their constitutional duty and take out the president,' " retired Army Lt. Gen. William Boykin told World Net Daily, a website best known for pushing Obama "birther" conspiracy theories. "Our Constitution puts a civilian in charge of the military and as a result a coup would not be constitutional. You're not going to see a coup in the military."

"I talk to a lot of folks who don't support where Obama is taking the military, but in the military they can't say anything," Boykin said.

Boykin, an evangelical Christian who is now the executive vice president of the Family Research Council, was publicly repudiated by President Bush twice in 2003 for saying Muslims worship an "idol" and not "a real God." Last year, Boykin abruptly pulled out of appearing at a West Point ceremony after controversy erupted over the invitation. (Boykin has also said Islam "should not be protected under the First Amendment" and that there should be "no mosques in America" because "a mosque is an embassy for Islam and they recognize only a global caliphate.")

We take out the president every 4 years (or have the opportunity to). We need to continue down that path and avoid the latin america style politics.

Those paying attention have long understood it's too late to avoid that. It's already occurred.

Government intentionally flooded the country with tens of millions illegally.

It's no secret U.S. history and the electoral process has already been undermined and compromised by this epic lawlessness.

Not particularly. I prefer Zero Hedge, American Thinker, Takimag, and good old Free Republic for my news.

You have to admit, sometimes WND seems more like THE WORLD tabloid than a serious news site. The best thing there is Colin Whatshisface and his monitoring of minority driven flash mob violence. The rest seems to be an INFOWARS wannabe with more ads, fewer references and a bit less hyperbole.

WND, SHTFplan and Oathkeepers spring to my mind when someone uses the term “false flag operation”.

Yeah, I’m a skeptic. Sue me.

That is why it’s called World Nut Daily...

You prefer MSM like CNN and the LA Times?

Not particularly.

That is a relief.

That is the advantage (I think, you don’t have to!) other countries have over us.
They have a mechanism to take out the trash.
It doesn’t always help, just look at Argentina, where Peronism, which is exactly what Obama is installing here, cannot be eradicated.

You don’t want to create a martyr.

And the difference between now and that theoretical is what?

His every word is defended, every action idolized and worshiped by masses of educated and uneducated ignoramuses.

When the mouthpiece media is writing his "legacy" when he is out of office in three years (crap, three more years?) he will have "governed" as an utter deity walking the earth.

I simply do not see any measure of the idolatry which can be increased.

In the eyes of the neo-communist "progressive liberals" he is being "martyred" by any critique no matter how slight and he himself is a true believer... of himself .

Problem with that, after you get rid of the POSOTUS, you have a Pinochet.

Considering that he implemented a free-market economy, you could do a heck of a lot worse.

What’s the next step when you know the socialist govt. in OUR White House will pull out all stops and fix the vote & “win” the election? Remember the last election, and how the computers in some states were programmed to switch a vote from Romney to Oboma? Google it to find out more.

Exactly. We have to face this truth and take it from there. And remember the WW II saying, “loose lips sink ships.” And it also gets patriots killed. There's talk out there, but you must be sure of whom you're talking to. To everyone I suggest checking out www.oathkeepers.com or is it org, I'm not sure. But do check it out.

So the military has a constitutional duty to "take out the president" but can't because it's unconstitutional? Well that makes sense. </sarcasm>

What a nutjob. There will be no coup, and nobody in the military that could remotely accomplish it is considering it.

If we play the hypothetical: - even under Obama - a coup would fail because the American soldier would not follow someone who attempted this.

The only way we could install leadership worse than Obama would be to have a military coup.

When elections are corrupt ...

If you like your “one man one vote”, you will be able to keep your “one man one vote”. Period.

If you like your franchise, you will be able to keep your franchise. Period.

No one will take them away. No matter what.

If you like your Tea Party nostalgia, you will be able to keep your Tea Party nostalgia. Period.

If you like your quaint experiment in democracy, you will be able to keep your quaint experiment in democracy. Period.

No one will take them away. No matter what.
