A season ticket holder here in Seattle said he has rights to his seats, but he has to buy out the rest of the season. IOW, he buys all playoff games as if the team will play in the SB - then if they crap out he will get a refund. Pricey situation... Not sure about other teams.
I miss watching football on TV in the 70’s. All the commercials were beer ads featuring cowboys out riding fences or breaking camp in the High Sierras. Or hot blondes offering to lather you up with shaving cream.
My very first professional football game (AFL) was Buffalo-Houston at 'the Rockpile' in Buffalo. My dad drove, parked in the street, he stopped at a grocery store and picked up a six-pack on the way, and we had a great time.
In some sports, to ensure play off tickets in your season ticket spot, you have to pay for the following seasons regular season games first ..and in this economy, that can be tuff!!!
We had that situation in the Stanley Cup playoffs here in Carolina. Play off season is damned expensive for the fans.
Given the strides that have been made in televised-game production, the report found the National Football League has seen attendance drop by 4.5 percent since 2007 with as many as 20 of the leagues 32 teams making full-season tickets available on their Web site.
A friend has it and I mooch off of him most Sundays. Not only will they will black out a local game if it doesn't sell out, they also force you to watch it on the local channel rather than part of the NFL package.
“ ..watch Joe Namath get creamed .”
and
“Tastes great less filling ”
No, I don't mind you taking a couple of seconds to probe through my cheap canvas bag to ensure I'm not carrying contraband. Yes, my wife refuses to throw away a $50 nice leather purse because you morons have instituted a new rule which has noting to do with safety and everything to do with theater.
“The NFL conducts business under non-profit status”
That’s largely misleading. The teams pay taxes.
I did a little research and found several photos of tickets for the 1967 Ice Bowl game with a face value of $10. That converts to about $70 in today's dollars.
Hey, I have an Idea. Why don’t we have them wear Pink so more women will some to the game. That’s gotta help!
I sorry, I meant they have not HOSTED a playoff game since the 80’s.
It’s expensive, and with Obamacare looming, people are worried about their finances.
Denver vs. Seattle will probably be the Super Bowl.
Denver is AFC
Seattle is NFC
The Rockpile. That was in a nice part of town. There was a reason they built Rich Stadium in Orchard Park.
As someone said to me years ago” Why should I pay $100 to watch someone dribble a ball”? Pick your sport.
Indeed. The NFL is an important element of the "circus," per the intensifying bread & circuses strategy of our elite rulers to appease and "take care of" the masses to grow their stranglehold on power.
But today you can watch em “palm” the ball....
