CBS is looking to put an increased focus on foreign relations next fall, placing a pilot order for an hour-long drama about a female Secretary of State, TVLine has learned.
The project, titled Madam Secretary, chronicles the personal and professional life of a maverick female SoS as she drives international diplomacy, wrangles office politics and balances a complex family life.
Homeland writer/producer Barbara Hall penned the script and will serve as an EP alongside Morgan Freeman, Lori McCreary and Tracy Mercer.

LOL! I’m sure THAT will be a popular show! Perhaps they’ll make the female Secretary of State a black dwarf to attract more viewers.
Condo and Hill are cut from the same cloth. Warmongers for the owners that profit from destruction and distraction. If either were bad at promoting the wars, they would have been gone long ago. Its a big club and we ain’t in it.
They need their alternate reality. Just like West Wing was their advocacy for a democrat presidency this is their wish for what Hillary would have gone through.
For a people who always talk about being in the reality based community, they can’t help but live via fiction.
There are certain shows that you can predict they never get past the fifth episode before cancellation. This is one of those shows. Nothing to draw the 18-to-35 year old crowd. Guys generally won’t watch it. It’s aimed at women....thirty-five and over....who have a political interest. Pretty low audience thriller, if you ask me.
Now, if you wanted a good idea for a TV show....why not put up a trailer-park gal who is fed up with her local town mayor and city council, and launches a campaign...then wins.
Let’s make the character a lesbian with a Muslim girlfriend. Should be a winner.
