Can't go home? Will try.
Racehorse

Posted on 06/24/2014 2:36:20 AM PDT by Racehorse

My next youngest among five brothers died, like our grandfather and father, from combinations of strokes and cancer.

Will be traveling from Texas with wife, son, and grandchildren to place ashes into the New River from the banks of the Virginia family farm. Like we did for our father.

I want grandkids to know from whence they came.

If given due respect, would like to post narrative of the journey here.

I’m very sorry about your family’s lost. Best wishes for the trip!

If by “due respect” you mean nobody would make a joke or a correction, that probably won’t happen, but I’m sure many would find story interesting.

Used to go tubing on the New from Blacksburg. Many good memories. May your journey help you in remembering the best of times with your family.

Adore that area of Virginia...Claytor Lake down thru Burke’s Garden and Grayson Highlands...attended several ‘Bridge Days’ on the New River further to the north. Hard to imagine a more beautiful and peaceful resting place.

Thanks to all who have posted.

Reason why James’s wife isn’t coming is she’s 7 months pregnant with our third grandson and can’t make the trip.

We had all hoped for a girl, this time. Didn’t happen.

Mom blames Racehorse genes for producing only boys.

Will be leaving San Antonio very early on 26 June. Will arrive at Dublin, Va very late on the 27th. 30 minutes away from the family farm.

Due respect may not include indirect truth challenges.

Family farm is located about mid point between Narrows and Pearisburg.

If I misunderstood your question, I do fervently apologize.

We might be related.

Smith . . blankenship . . butler . . kelly . . bowles . . . and others not known.

If your wife recognizes any of these family groups, would she and you like to join me and my family for hosted dinner during my short visit?

Heck . . . i don’t care . . . if the only connection in common is Narrows. Son’s military leave expires after the holiday. Can’t stay as long as i want.
