Tonight for some strange reason ads began popping up in the upper right corner of the main index page. Anyone else experiencing this?

“The ads go away when you become a paid member.”
Yeah sure - I want to pay for:
a) a website using 1993 technology;
b)no mobile app;
c) cannot link to social media sites like facebook, twitter, pinterest, etc.
This site is becoming less and less relevant every day. All of you old geezers can stay. I’m moving on.

Put a piece of black electrical tape in the upper right hand of your screen. Then the ads go away.

I see Redrum on my computer screen. You getting that one too? That's odd. I've been getting Loofamabo on my screen for the longest time, since 2008 at least. I can't figure it out at all.

This site will load lightning fast when nothing else will.
It is my test case for checking if my net connection is up.
And much more.

Cnet.com. Never again. Im blaming Cnet. Oh, yes. Cnet used to be my number one go-to site for downloads of all sorts.
Then about a year ago my virus scanners started alerting to all sorts of things right after a Cnet download. It happened again and again. And something was changing my homepage and preferred search engine. So either Cnet has gotten sloppy, or (more likely) Cnet is being paid for whatever "extra" code is being downloaded.
I won't go near Cnet anymore. And more people should know of this.

We have an opus!
Really, no mobile app? This site's text-based look is meant to make it mobile friendly. You can't reduce your data requirements much less than to use text without resorting to compression/decompression.
The last thing I want is for Facebook to ring up my article hits and posts, and that would be what would happen if such code was referenced per article or per post.
Please, leave us. You are showing your ignorance.
