The other day we were in an electronics store and my wife’s phone Wifi connected to a freaking refrigerator!

Mine always connects to a printer in that store that seems to like me for some reason.

Not only are they connected to the intewebz, but they are ACCESS POINTS!

Skynet, any day now...

Unless some of these devices are up to date on their crypto ( which I doubt a toaster made in China would be. They are selling toasters and can't be bothered with keeping them secure), they allow an easy way to hack into your wifi .

BtD: "WHAT?!??!"

BtD (frantic): "Or what, you little Nazi?"

Voice: "Or the beer gets it."

My opinion is the internet of things will be pitched towards women and they are more gullible about such conveniences. I base this on the incessant radio advertising I hear for Chase online banking using your smart phone. Other online banks are in it too to lock in customers.

The kind of woman who are working and have children will want this internet of things they can control remotely.

So how popular will it be when the HVAC system starts reporting on what it smells in the air? And not just marijuana smoke or crack fumes. How about a report on a perfume in the air not found in your wife’s inventory?

I can see this going wrong very fast.
