The more inept you are the smarter you think you are

Psychologists have shown humans are poor judges of their own abilities, from sense of humour to grammar. Those worst at it are the worst judges of all.
You're pretty smart right? Clever, and funny too. Of course you are, just like me. But wouldn't it be terrible if we were mistaken? Psychologists have shown that we are more likely to be blind to our own failings than perhaps we realise. This could explain why some incompetent people are so annoying, and also inject a healthy dose of humility into our own sense of self-regard.

Roger that. There’s obviously a correlation between narcissism and this subject.

Yet the people who are always given the limelight are the ones who are willing to talk loudly and act confident. Humility gets overlooked almost every time.
It’s hard to know how to prepare kids for a world like that. To succeed they have to have “confidence” (toot their own horn), and yet the more intelligent (and Christian) way is humility.
I don’t know.
I do hate it when I’m too stupid to know that I’m stupid though. Except when it’s God letting me know that His ways are so far above my own understanding; that’s always a slightly bitter but mostly sweet learning.

I think there was an earlier study which showed that smart people initially don’t think they’re smart, until they see what dumb people are like and then they know they’re smart. lol

Barak Obama and the Peter Principle.
He’s a walking, talking, incompetent example of this article.

Proverbs 26:12 shows that King Solomon, blessed with God’s wisdom, indicated the same thing thousands of years ago.

I have always thought I was pretty dumb (because my math skills are poor).
Does this mean I am really smart, (except for math of course)?
No I did not read the article. :)

Sure. People who don't know how little they know are likely to be overconfident, misjudge their abilities, and make mistakes. Did they really need to do a study to find that out?
But sometimes it's people who get many things right who become overconfident and eventually stumble badly. And the people who've learned not to be overconfident often come to that wisdom by having made many mistakes in the past. Not sure where that leaves us.

I think when your 18, everyone is like this. You don’t realize what you don’t know yet.
By the time you’re well into adulthood, most people know their strengths and weaknesses.
