To Rush Limbaugh: Losing a Listener
Vanity | Septermber 16, 2014 | Morris Poston

Posted on 09/16/2014 2:21:07 AM PDT by goodn'mad

I'm a dyed in the wool ditto-head and have been so for many years. To be honest, I'm finding you less and less "listenable." You seem to be losing your edge. While I download your podcasts, I more and more frequently find myself fast-forwarding past the lengthy spiels on the latest I-phones, sports happenings, and your winning your umpteenth Marconi Award, that is, when I bother to listen at all. Listening to your broadcast used to be the highpoint of everyday. I never thought I'd say this but I no longer count it a great lose if I go for days without listening. I'm heartsick to say it. Please don't think this is a plant or that I'm a seminar caller. Check it and you'd see that I've subscribed since the beginning. I may not do so any longer. Maybe it can be summed up like this: I used to find hope by listening to you but it seems like even you have lost hope. I could say more but won't, except for this: I'm a rock-ribbed, hard core, conservative listener and have been for years. If you've lost me, you've probably lost several thousands. For what it's worth......

I take breaks from him, too. Sick of the Rice stuff right now. Mark Levin is my “vice” now. That guy never lets up, and I appreciate his indignation. He sounds like how I feel.

I stopped the 24/7 when he started putting “segment” commercials into them. I’m not paying to buy a commercial. I think most of the talk show guys are out of “moderate” bullets. I know how bad it is, I know we have a community organizer, golf-playing, amateur “president.” How often can it be said. How many more KNOWN and unanswered scandals? What I want to hear is somebody helping me figure out what to do about the continuing and now more boring discussion. Levin is the only one who seems angry. When Rush and his ilk didn’t go after Obama’s credentials, I started wondering why. Something so obviously wrong...crickets. And with the obvious silence, credibility tanked. (And I don’t care if Rush has a cat!)

Actually, it was Rush condoning EJ’s homosexual lifestyles that was so disgusting.

Rush has made it clear in private he is more Republican RINO than Conservative - must be that fat, happy lifestyle that causes him to phone-in each show.

I haven’t listened to much talk radio in over 2 years and I do not miss it. Once in a great while I will tune in online for an hour, but it is very rare.

FR is where everything I need is located

When Rush and his ilk didn’t go after Obama’s credentials, I started wondering why.

For quite some time, Rush has shown he is a Republican/GOP-E RINO. He seems to go on long rants about non-political issues just to keep from engaging in conservative points.

Yeah, I bailed on Rush along time ago. He is just too “Tory” and not enough conservative for me. Now I stick to podcasts of Kaliner, Deace, Plante, etc. like I posted a couple of weeks ago. I will still tune in rush from time to time, but do not last long because while his insights and analysis can be first rate, much of the time he is either phoning it in or talking about his life which I do not find interesting.

Ditto. Rush is a teacher and more effective than the NEA and the DOE combined.

:) You do realize you're damning with vanishingly faint praise, right?

"Rush has always talked about his cats. He’s always talked about computers. He’s always talked about golf. He’s always talked about football."

True, but he used to spend a few minutes on these and then go on to the news of the day. Yesterday, for instance, he talked about NOTHING ELSE. He spent the whole three hours endlessly repeating the same drivel about not understand how Apple could download a new OS to packaged iPhones, and how feminists should deal with the NFL. Neither is "Cutting Edge" commentary. The fact that he took a number of calls on the topics indicates that the choices were intentional, not stream of consciousness.

rush is getting duller thats for sure. Increasingly rare are the insightful and sharp tongued analysis that kept the fire in our bellies alive. I can think of a few reasons why he has “mellowed” out recently:

1. he’s getting older, has fought the good fight so long that he is wanting to pass the torch

2. he thinks America is lost - unfortunately i come away with this filling often after listening to his perspective on the political issues. If he feels this way then why not talk about human things instead? It is a natural way to transition the psyche.

3. He has been corrupted by some outside influence and is purposely toning down rhetoric - perhaps warned by the government?

4. He is just being himself. He enjoys talking about day to day things other than politics and realizes obama is a lame duck so isn’t going to waste energy on those topics anymore. Damage is done - he is resting up in preparation for 2016’s fight.

I’ve listened to Rush for 26 years.

It’s not so much what he says on the days topics that I’m now listening to him but what he doesn’t say on the days topics.

It’s information that’s available but he chooses to ignore it like “low information voters”.

I’m of the opinion Rush knows the country is right on the edge of exploding and he’s not discussing and ignoring information because if he does discuss it the country might just explode into violence he doesn’t want to be the one to push the button.

Rush won’t waste his time pumping up the GOP - he doesn’t believe in them anymore. And neither do i. don’t expect a big GOP sweep this november. They are no different than the dems and conservative voters know it.

I believe the above link will take you there. I only catch portions of his show during lunch or on the drive home but he pretty much says what a lot of people think.

I never heard Rush “condone” EJ’s homosexual lifestyle. I did hear Rush laud EJ for having the courage to perform at Rush’s wedding even though he knew he was going to get blasted by the Hollywood elite for doing so.

To reiterate:

No true conservative would do that which would further destroy our country, in a pique of perfectionist fantasy, not grounded in real politics and the desired results thereof. If you don’t vote for Pubs, you effectively vote for Dems and thus hasten the ruin of our country.

You malcontents seek a third party. There are 34 distinct officially recognized political parties in the U.S. And yet you purists want yet another “third” party, of which there are 34 of them already. Yet none of them are good enough for perfectionist little you. Why not? Why, out of 34 choices, can’t you find one to suit you? Because no party will ever suit you. After a while, your “new” third party that you seek would also sour on you, and you’d be back to square one in your own mind, or perhaps I should say, square three, or 34, or ... you get the gist.

Your true enemy is not other Pubs as much as you try to make it so, but the fascist, pinko, commie, socialist Dems. They should be your enemies. But you are myopic and only see things through the prism of your own brand of perfectionism. Your way will lose us Supreme Court appointments. Your way will stick us with many more years of fascist dictatorship, and the lesson of the German Nazi regime was that things will get worse through the years of continuing fascist rule, not better. Until it will be too late to change things for the better and our country too will be ruined or find itself in all out war. Obama has almost got us there already.

See Roman Empire for example of degradation of Empire. No empire lasts forever, and ours will be eaten from within. My tagline describes you below.

My feelings precisely. Couldn’t believe the long intro yesterday about the cat...then the “brilliant” question about the new iPhone...
