To Rush Limbaugh: Losing a Listener
Vanity | Septermber 16, 2014 | Morris Poston

Posted on 09/16/2014 2:21:07 AM PDT by goodn'mad

I'm a dyed in the wool ditto-head and have been so for many years. To be honest, I'm finding you less and less "listenable." You seem to be losing your edge. While I download your podcasts, I more and more frequently find myself fast-forwarding past the lengthy spiels on the latest I-phones, sports happenings, and your winning your umpteenth Marconi Award, that is, when I bother to listen at all. Listening to your broadcast used to be the highpoint of everyday. I never thought I'd say this but I no longer count it a great lose if I go for days without listening. I'm heartsick to say it. Please don't think this is a plant or that I'm a seminar caller. Check it and you'd see that I've subscribed since the beginning. I may not do so any longer. Maybe it can be summed up like this: I used to find hope by listening to you but it seems like even you have lost hope. I could say more but won't, except for this: I'm a rock-ribbed, hard core, conservative listener and have been for years. If you've lost me, you've probably lost several thousands. For what it's worth......

He’d be wise to listen to your comments. I hope he hasn’t become to big for his britches to listen to well-founded advice.

If you happened to be in Houston you could listen to Michael Berry on 950 AM. He pulls no punches and is awesome! Rush is on at the same time but I don’t listen anymore because of his long tirades about the things you mentioned.

“I don’t disagree with your comments. In his defense, I’d suggest that it’s impossible to keep up the focus, the intensity level..continuously.”

I concur, however that is not my point at this moment in time. I reiterate, it is only approx. 6 weeks until election day. Now is not the time for excessive small talk, and it seems to me that Rush has engaged in too much of it of late. Time to cut some of it out and get down to brass tacks. This midterm election is too important to fritter precious time away.

Plus, Rush is moralizing too much for my tastes lately. He knows he’s preaching to the choir for the most part, so we don’t need that, we need political facts, tactics, being kept up on the state of various closely contested races, what the enemy is up to, what we can use for political arguments with those that waffle. I’m sure you get my drift. Time for getting down to business. Rush can talk about anything his little heart desires, ... after the midterm elections, please.

:: some old guy rambling about meaningless junk ::

I think he might fit the job description...but then, so do I (just ask my kids!)

I think Michael Savage is great. BUT I don’t really care for his going on about different restaurants and food. I don’t listen to him because I am at work while he is on. If I could I would have a radio on but switch back and forth between him and Michael Berry.

You are certainly entitled to your opinion, regardless of how unfounded it is. Again, put simply, “I don’t listen to him nearly as much as I used to because he seems to me to talk more and more about things that just aren’t that important.” There...that’s it. You obviously don’t like to hear it as is your prerogative. I’m not twisting anyone’s arm. They are free to listen to whomever they wish. And the last time I checked I am free to post my honest opinion on “Free” Republic.

I will always be grateful to Rush for my better understanding of conservatism and the significance of worldly events.

However, for me, the debate is over. The question is: what can I do? What are people doing to counter this Obama menace? How can I help them?

Here, let me share a link with you: http://www.wabcradio.com/page.php?page_id=1222

This link is for WABC Radio out of New York. They have free podcasts for Mark Levin and Michael Savage. I often download them and listen to them at work and/or exercising.

i cannot listen to Rush very long or consistently for the same reasons.

Try Mark Levin. He is much better researched and is not fixated on himself.

Thanks, mom.mom. Rush definitely formed what little political awareness I have. I was very ignorant until I listened to him. Believe it or not, I was insane enough to vote for Jimmy Carter. I was clueless. I can understand why there are so many low information voters out there. I was one of them. We can never take Rush’s contributions away from. I, for one, owe him a lot. It just bothers me that more and more he seems to “major in minors and minor in majors.”

The man is a walking encyclopedia, especially regarding the Constitution. I wish the Republican politicians would get in the habit of listening to him.

I still listen to Rush every week day, but egad!, he’s got half a billion bucks, and he’s adding more commercial time every year. I know when his commercial breaks are coming up, and I turn the radio off or mute the sound. It seems like I’m hearing less and less real talk and more ad talk from him every year.

Would you post a link for me if podcasts are available? I’d sure appreciate it. Will try to look up his broadcasts. Thanks for the tip.

Could be worse. The local talk station replaced Hannity with Michael Savage.

I am SO sick of him shilling for his book that won’t even be out until next month, and his random stream-of-consciousness spiels. . . .

So one can’t be a true Republican and respect the musical talents of Elton John at the same time?
