Nvidia sinks moon landing hoax using virtual light

The first manned missions to Earth's satellite began in 1969 with Apollo 11. Just a few years later, conspiracies sprouted up claiming that potentially each of the six lunar landing crews and every one of the 12 Apollo astronauts who walked on the moon had in fact participated in an elaborate ruse. To the conspiracists, it may never have happened -- or didn't happen like NASA said it did -- and oh by the way, we duped the Russians into losing the space race.

Voxel global illumination, however, proves them wrong, says Nvidia. The technique, which the new GTX 970 and 980 can tap into, lets developers use dynamic lighting that will bounce, diffuse and reflect in real-time with unprecedented fidelity when new objects are added to a scene. Nvidia's GPUs are enhanced chips that allow graphics cards to more effectively and efficiently take data from a central processing unit, or CPU, and turn it into moving images on a display. In other words, voxel global illumination is the perfect rendering tool to tackle moon landing hoaxes that often use as evidence for their claims lighting discrepancies with NASA photography.

That’s what I was told at NSA ... make of it what you will. I don’t know any more than that. I was not cleared to know.

Actually, you are almost right about Earth's Moon being too close and too bright for Hubble. HST was used to study light curve changes during the Venus Transit, for example.

Below is one from a famous set of 'full moon' shots of the Moon's nearside, specifically of bright Aristarchus and Schröter Valley on the Aristarchus Plateau. The same set includes Hubble's best view of the Taurus Littrow valley, explored by Cernan and Schmitt of the Apollo 17 expedition in December 1972.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lunar_Laser_Ranging_experiment

“The ongoing Lunar Laser Ranging Experiment measures the distance between the Earth and the Moon using laser ranging. Lasers on Earth are aimed at retroreflectors planted on the Moon during the Apollo program (11, 14, and 15), and the time for the reflected light to return is determined.”

If you look at the photos posted here you will see a ‘65 Chevy Impala. It was accidentally left in frame by one of the special effects crew.

The moon landing has far more supporting evidence than well-known hoaxes like Piltdown Man or Obama’s killing of “Bin Laden” - so it’s funny people spend so much time trying to prove it never happened. :)

“Even back then there were deniers and hoax pushers.”

Yeah but weren’t they mostly elderly people who, when they came of age, were riding around in horse-drawn carriages? I don’t remember any younger people calling it into question. I was 11 that summer and nobody could have changed my mind about it, especially after the Apollo 8 trip and coverage on Christmas Eve of ‘68.

It was my generation. I was 31 in 1969.

You too?

To make matters worse it was done by typically very straight laced guys with buzzcuts who drank gallons of coffee, scotch, and smoked cartons of cigarettes.

While on the job, for hours on live international television!

Makes for slim picking in terms of "PC acceptable" documentaries that can be shown about the great space race achievement.

Can't have that many smokers, you know. We all now are more enlightened and know that smoking reduces IQ dramatically...
Go to the moon?
Never happen!

“However, Russia could have easily duplicated the feat, but did not for other classified reasons.”

Yeah, their N1 moon rocket blew up in July 1969:

Not to be confused with the Nedelin Catastrophe, which occurred in 1960:

Nobody I know personally. But if you google it, you’ll get some interesting info.

Thanks for the interesting bit of Google info. A search brings up the part of one of my posts that say "You all want to start slinging holocaust denial at me, you're flat-out lying about my actual words."

So in other words, a Google quote where I'm NOT a holocaust denier.

Which means that you're insinuating a lie against me on this thread. A vile, disgusting lie - the lowest. In direct opposition of your so-called reference citation.

So first, of all, you're a slanderous coward, hiding behind a screen name and spewing slanderous filth. Let's get that really straight, me to you. Got it?

And second of all, WHY exactly are you personally slandering me with such poison? Why is it so important to completely disrupt this particular thread with such a heinous accusation?Because of what? The moon landing. LOL, really? You're so threatened by opposition to the standard moon landing story that you have to slander someone with holocaust denial, and in doing so shame yourself and degrade your own personal integrity into the toilet because that's the only defense you can find for the moon landing subject?

Well congratulations, sport. You've all but proven we never went to the moon.

And you've also proven that you're a liar.

Then we owe you a debt of gratitude.

Not me; I didn't do anything. I watched it (the US moon landing in 1969) on TV just like you. But I did support the NASA program to do it. Today's NASA outreach to Muslims, not so much.

None of that had anything to do with Russia not going to the moon. We were aware of all of those problems. We monitored all those events. Their decision came years later.
