The first Dallas health care worker with Ebola, Nina Pham, is in "improved condition today," and the second Dallas health care worker with Ebola is "ill but clinically stable," CDC Director Dr. Tom Frieden said Wednesday. Frieden said it's still to be determined whether Pham will be transferred to another facility; Frieden earlier said the second patient will be transferred to Emory University Hospital.

Well it turns out that she is black. Maybe they are doing it for the right reasons or maybe they are doing it because Jesse screamed racism and asked why Duncan wasn’t transferred.
If it did only kill black people, Obama’s base would blame the hospitals, racism, sequester and BUSH. They won’t blame instead of the virus, Obama, or the CDC. They might blame the CDC, but not Obama.

Now I’ve been straightened out of all the confusion from FRers saying this and that about “BSL hospitals”.
One would think it would be helpful to have such designations for patient facilities?

I’ve wondered the same thing, there should be some simple definitions of various levels of treatment centers, we know we have 4 special units, but there should be some term to use when mentioning them rather than having to explain with long descriptions of construction and such, for why they are special or different, and for what is available in between, from outside of those 4, all the way down to a neighborhood walk in clinic.
This is another oversight that implies that they have never gotten into the details of how to actually deal with bio agents that pose a threat to national security and national health.

The purpose of the “Bring Out Your Dead” ping list (formerly the “Ebola” ping list) is very early warning of emerging pandemics, as such it has a high false positive rate.
So far the false positive rate is 100%.
At some point we may well have a high mortality pandemic, and likely as not the “Bring Out Your Dead” threads will miss the beginning entirely.

I find it curious because trauma centers (hospitals, basically) have designations.
I would think they would have biohazard levels, too.
