What IS the McRib made of? New McDonald's video shows how they make the boneless, preformed patty
UK Daily Mail ^ | November 4, 2014 | Sadie Whitelocks

Likened to 'packing foam' and 'gray IKEA furniture' the McDonald's McRib patty came under scrutiny last year after one was photographed on the production line minus sauce and pickles. But now the fast food giant is hoping to get people 'lovin" its seasonal treat again by showing exactly how the boneless, preformed morsel is made. A new behind-the-scenes video takes viewers inside the Lopez Foods production facility in Oklahoma City where giant chunks of pork are ground down - no packing foam in sight.

Of course they don’t use pig ears. That would be actual meat.

Reminds me of a news report I read about 30 years ago in Denver. A crook was suing the police department for cruel and unusual punishment. They caught him exiting a meat packing warehouse after triggering a silent alarm with a box on his shoulder. It was dark inside so he didn’t know what he grabbed, but thought he had a big box of steaks. Turns out he had a box of cow rectums similar to your picture.

The “cruelty” by the police was them making fun of him. They were calling him the “a—hole bandit” and things like that.

Thanks to that photo, I’ve added another item to my “jobs I’d really hate to have” list.

Somewhere in the world imported boneless pig rectums are a delicacy.

Travel tip: read those menus very carefully.

Boxes of these should be dropped on ISIS savages as they are on the move.

Now, that’s humiliating. Imagine taking those home to mama... “Look, hon, steaks! Uh—oops.”

As a teenager, I got diarrhea during a cross country trip, probably from drinking the water at a McDonald’s in Jacksonville, Florida that lasted until my family reached Myrtle Beach, SC. I managed not to “go” in my pants, but between the frequent stops to find a restroom and holding it in for hours on end, it was one of the most miserable experiences of my life, especially the last hour or two when most places with restrooms were closed.

If you don’t eat the food, how do you even know what it tastes like?

We made the mistake ordering a couple yesterday. They’ve changed the recipe from crap to gawd awful. The dog even turned up his nose.

How soon will McDonald’s start selling imitation silk purses along side their pork “ribs”?
Or do they also grind THAT up into the pork?

I’ve read in an article on line that a lot of Calimari (even served here in the US) is fake and is actually pig rectums. The article I read it in said the two are virtually indistinguishable, even to experts. I don’t know that I trust the article, but I hate calimari anyway. One might as well chomp on some bicycle inner-tubes.

I don’t care what kind of propaganda they show … I won’t eat their swill.

My mom always told me, “if you are on the road somewhere, always eat at McDonalds. At least there you know you won’t get food poisoning.”

Shortly after I ignored her advice and got food poisoning from KFC. Twice in one summer, at two different stores over 200 miles apart.

They say the only part of a pig don't get packed is the squeal. And, unknown foods are always suspect!

I get boneless butterfly cut pork chops at the butcher shop, fry slow until very tender add BBQ sauce, way nicer than McRib, cheaper and you know what's in there. Plus the chops are huge and thick, bun 'em and enjoy.

Calamari. That’s it. I was thinking the same thing but couldn’t recall the name. Never had it, never will.

The McRib is made with tripe, heart and scalded stomach. That's why I won't ever touch one.

False.

The photo is likely real: Apparently pork rectums are a delicacy in some parts of the world. And supposedly they have a consistency similar to calamari. But the notion that they could be swapped for calamari is hypothetical: the FDA responded to the hype by stating that there has never been a single case discovered of pork rectums being sold as calamari. And probably for good reason: they are pungent to prepare, and they have an external market demand.

I didn’t know that some rectums had bones.
