Can’t sleep in dead silence myself. When I was a kid we flew to Japan in a Douglas DC-6B & back two years later in a Super Constellation. Their recips made a roar like nothing else, had to shout to speak. But what an adventure for a kid looking down at the clouds instead of up.

Since then I have to have a fan in the bedroom but just listened to this B-17 engine audio from the laptop into the den stereo speakers & had the best afternoon nap ever (I’m retired). Awesome.

One of my brothers was a Bombardier on a B17. He spent some time as a POW in Germany and it wasn’t until his 70s that he had to have hearing aides but he only flew 17 missions. Some of the crews went on 40 missions or more…
