If you follow the thread, you`ll find a story about familial trash being ticked at their little Thuggie Brown being shot, but he survived five hits! What`s your best compromise between concealment versus stopping power. And how would climate effect your choice?
A Ruger 380 to the forehead stops just about anyone.
We know that in 97% of gun presentations that the bad guy leaves quickly if he can.
So, when in a low risk area, I carry a Ruger LCP in 380.
In high risk areas, I carry a 45 in shoulder holster or small of back, with the LCP as backup.
In very high risk areas (extremely rarely), a rifle goes with me.
In bear country (literally, when bears and mountain lions are expected), a Smith & Wesson 329, 44 Magnum loaded with 270gr Speer DeepCurl handloads...and that little Ruger LCP to kneecap the guy next to me as I run away. :)
I think I paid $150 for mine. It’s nice and light and that cartridge packs a punch.
At work or in town depending on the clothing and weather
Colt Commander - .45 ACP
Glock 42 - .380
Seecamp - .32
At the ranch
Glock 21 with a Trijicon RMR
I think I lost all of my guns in a freak boating accident on Lake Michigan
I carry the S &W airweight version. Easy to conceal with a pocket holster and pleated pants and I can still tuck in my shirt tail. I carry it everywhere, and don't have to worry about accidentally shooting myself.
What was St. Big Mike hit with? .9mm?
Fine weapon. I have one of the compact models in .45
I’m old school like that.
I have a Glock 19 but my LCR .38 is the simplest by far to conceal/carry. My thinking is it must be on your person at ALL times, not just when you can. It’s the only one that fits that bill. Semi’s are nice but there are springs that wear out.
I have a glovebox hog leg, 2 bedside units, and a couple other units stashed around the house. Needless to say before the kids come over I’m busy rounding up all the hardware.
A fun gun is something else again and a carry gun is not a fun gun.
darn ... you would have to post this after went fishing and took all firearms and ammo and wouldn’t you know it the boat capsized again.
Also in no particular order and depending on my mood and season:
Glock mod 20 (10mm)
SIG 229 (40)
S&W 629 (44 mag)
Romanian TTC (7.62x25)
Git ‘r done.
I like a 9 because any family members can pick it up and be effective. .45 not so much.
That’s a good list.
Why a threaded barrel? Do you carry a silencer too?
I don’t even want to know where that can be concealed...
Dang ... am expecting any time now, when fishing, that caught fish will be carrying, on the lake fishing in, and empty on me and the boat.
I have an Airweight and an LCR. The wife absconded with the Airweight, it makes a great purse gun.
Sparks Summer Special II most of the time... occasionally on a quick trip to the store I'll take the Kimber 4" 1911 in 9mm in a Ramora hoster, which is a really cool unit.
Once in a while, not often, I'll carry the wife's Sig 238 in a Ramora holster. That's when it's 110F out and I'm in light shorts that won't support even the 9, she says, "Let's go shopping", and I'm feeling too lazy to change..
