Slow Cooker Pozole is easy and good if you do not have a picky crowd who won’t touch hominy!
Appetizers....#1cream cheese with Pickapeppa poured over it. #2Cream cheese sliced down the middle using plain dental floss. Add wasabi paste lightly in the middle. Replace top layer. Pour soy sauce and garnish with finely sliced green onions.
I LOVE hominy - My granny was from the South, and it was common in our household, on Sunday mornings; I’ve got two big cans of it in my pantry. But when I mention it to my crew, they don’t know what it is (even though they know grits!)
A crockpot Pozole was one of the things I was thinking of! But I thought it would be too ‘weird’ for them.
I’ll save it for a later party. (We have about four of these per year; plenty of time to try out new things.)
Thanks so much,

Went to a Christmas dinner at the mom’s retirement home an hour ago, left early (not my kind of food, didn’t eat much) and stopped for fast food on the way home.. Will see mom again later tonight.
Or just a bowl of cut up fresh fruit is refreshing this time of year when everywhere you go, there are offerings of rich, fattening dishes.
Pork barbeque in the crock pot. Serve on rolls. Plenty of recipes on the internet.
Greek spinach and feta cheese quiche.
Meatballs in the crock pot
Restuffed baked potatoes work well being warmed up in a microwave. Bake potatoes. Cut in half. Scoop out innerds leaving skin in tact. While hot, add butter, cheese, chopped green onions and smash up. Then restuff the potato skins. At work, nuke them for a few minutes. Some like crumbled bacon added.
Baked lasagna warms up well in the microwave.
Sorry I don’t have that...
Lasagna
Most have never experienced the wonderful flavor of REAL cranberry sauce, only the tasteless goop in cans.
It is SO easy to make- just follow the directions on the back of the bag of fresh cranberries.
And no, you don't need to add oranges, spices or anything else. All you need to add is sugar. The cranberries by themselves are wonderful!
Guarantee you'll be the hit of the party.
This is your type of thread, m’Lady, being a bakin’ magician like you are.
You could probably do that with lutefisk also.
And yet you wonder why there are leftovers ? <
Ha,ha.ah !
why not suggest 'blood pudding ' ??

Hot wings - real butter and Tabasco and lots of both...Make them good enough and folks will remember you the next day and maybe even into the next year.
BBQ Chicken Wings are always a hit at my New Year’s Eve party.
I first cook them in a pot of water so I don’t have to be outside in the snow too long. Also, you get to save the broth for when you cook a turkey or chicken and need more flavor for the gravy—it’s better than the can of chicken broth. I put it in the freezer and save it.
I then put them on the grill with some BBQ sauce (I’ve used Kraft original before—$.98 a bottle) just long enough to get dark and crispy.
I put them in a pan and keep them warm in the oven. I add some water so they don’t dry out and get tender. The meat should fall off the bone.
One drawback: Wings are very expensive and are never on sale where I live, usually around $2.50-$3.00 lb. last time I checked. I remember the good ole days when they were $.79. You’ll spend more, but really save on time in the kitchen. Plus, you have something that tastes great, a summer food in the winter, is recognizable and not some weird-looking casserole you see at potlucks.
Use chicken legs- cheaper per pound and just as delicious.
P.S. - make a double batch and keep some for yourself.....they go quick!
Wow, sounds easy and delicious!
There are super easy brocolli rice casserole recipes on the net.
Thanks, hope you try it! Quick and easy comfort food...
Thanks to you, and to all of the others who responded. I have party food for the next year, now!
I use Tasha Tudor’s cranberry sauce recipe; I even bought a vintage mold just like hers, to make it in.
The canned stuff can’t compare; but having grown up with ‘THE CAN’, I like that too. The problem is, I’m the only one in my circle who really likes cranberry sauce! (I think the only reason we had it at holiday time, is because Granny liked it; and she taught me.)
Thanks again to all; I hope this thread goes on, and others send us their recipes.
