We were in Glacier National Park on our way up to Logan Pass and decided to pull over and take some pictures. Up comes a doe from down below. It sees us and for some reason comes over and licks our arms.

Deer looking for crackers or cookies. They love Lorna Dunes, this I know.
In the summer tourists certainly get to feed deer, but do not wander too far away from people and parking as bears just might be hungry too.
A good place to see deer as they walk right up is at Bison National Range about half-way to GNP from Missoula.

Wolves gotta eat too.
If they come to an easy meal, well, it’s rude not to take the proffered treat.

HG got a deer to drink coffee.
The results were fascinating.
That they love Lorna Dunes, valuable info I am pinging out and passing on.

Time for the obligatory city-slicker comments. Never mind the fact that these folks were from some nowhere town in Arkansas.

Must have been from last summer because that area is currently under 6 to 12 feet of snow.

LOL!
So far, it was only the one time that I am aware of.
Whether the feat has been repeated is not known.

My wife had a wild rabbit she would talk to while gardening. One day a dog came into the yard and the rabbit ran right between my wife’s feet and stopped. Another time she had an owl adopt her for a summer. He would fly around and perch above her. One time she was having lunch outside and the owl took off and returned with a heron and dined above her. Animals are strange.

They are lucky to have survived. Glacier Park is the only known habitat of carnivorous deer. It was taste testing.

When I was a little kid one of those little deer at Glacier park stole my peanut butter sandwich right out of my hand and then demanded more by butting me across the picnic area until my dad gave it a good slug in the nose.
The little bastard, I remember feeling the little spike nubs with my fingers and my butt.
I have never ever felt bad about having blasted any of them with my .308.
They are just big rabbits.

The deer are all over up here, year round. Sometimes they come right up like that looking for a treat or sometimes they stand off a bit. Either way they are beautiful animals. Darn good eatin’ also!

I’ve been too busy dodging deer year round on the highways and trying to keep them out of the garden in summer to get all that excited about something like this. If a deer approached me without fear in the daylight and tried to lick me, I’d probably think it was rabid.
