Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning will turn 39 in March, creating speculation that the veteran will decide to retire after the 2014 NFL season.

In a recent interview, Manning, who is in contract until after the 2016 season, denied reports suggesting that he is planning to call it quits after this season, saying that all talks about his future at this point should be ignored.

Broncos are a classic case of a team that got old overnight.

On a positive note, we likely have been subjected to his awful "Nationwide" commercial for that time.

"This-is-end-of-my-ca-reer"

Well done.

As a Chiefs fan, I hope he retires before next season.

He has nothing to prove and his place in Canton is assured.

I had no idea he was 39. It probably is time to let it go.

I do remember George Blanda playing until he was way up in his 40s. Of course he was mainly a kicker. I think the Raiders third string QB was the punter, Ray Guy.

I agree. Of course when he left Indy, many figured he’d never play again.

Just finished Bill Polian’s book, he talks about how weak Manning’s throwing was after the surgery. They had opinions all over the map from doctors +/- on would he ever play again.

So no 2nd SB but a great 2nd act on his career. And I’d bet whatever act 3 is, you’ll hear about him. Smart guy, and if he chooses business over sports, could easily be another Roger Staubach type.

“Go COLTS!”

Yes! They’re my second choice (after the Chargers).

I do think Peyton Manning will retire after this season. There's nothing left for him to prove, given he's a certainly first-ballot NFL Hall of Famer.

It will be VERY interesting to see what happens to Tom Brady should he win another Super Bowl this season. Will Brady seriously consider hanging it up also?

Payton is as old now as John Elway was when he retired. In his last season, Elway was getting painkiller injections before each game just to get out on the field. But Elway had one thing Manning doesn’t, and that was Terrel Davis. This season they incorrectly put everything on Manning, and he seems to have worn out.

I can guarantee that even if Brady wins another Super Bowl with his team, he isn’t retiring. When he says it, he says it with conviction.

He loves playing and is still playing at a high level.

No, Manning wasn’t. And as a, still fan, as long as he isn’t playing us, it’s sad to see. But not unexpected. His neck injury was always going to be an issue, and I’m very glad he was able to come back and play.

We were very lucky to get Peyton and all the good years and a SB he gave us. Lucas Stadium is the house that Peyton built.

He’s a class act.

And we’ve been lucky (no pun intended) with Andrew Luck as well. Who’s also turned out to be a class act. Which isn’t all that surprising since the Mannings and Lucks have been intertwined for some time.

The nfl has been unwatchable the past two seasons because of the penalties. I did catch two bronco games and manning looked great almost unstoppable IMO. It was one of the few enjoyable moments this season. I was hoping he would hoist one more before he calls it a career but I’m not so sure. He got old real fast.

The Luck vs RG3 argument appears more ridiculous than ever.

There was a third Manning Brother who was just as good as the other two. I could be wrong but I think he signed with Southern Miss.

A fortunate injury resulted in an X-Ray which found a hidden defect in his spine or spinal cord which could have very easily resulted in him being a paraplegic. Just one hit in the wrong place would have done it.

Can’t believe any team would be stupid enough to hire Rex Ryan as head coach.

IMO Manning (& Wes Welker) are done and should hang em up. However Manning is very record driven and if he plays another year he will break Farve’s regular season wins record.

Brady is going to play for another 5 or 6 years book it.
