The Seattle Seahawks lead the NFL in suspensions for performance-enhancing drugs since Pete Carroll became coach in 2010, research by ESPN Stats & Information shows.

this is 100% as relevant as the mysteriously deflated balls.. Both teams should be banned, disbanded, coaches should be hung and everyone executed.. or not, because it’s a meaningless sporting event.
The Patriots are cheaters charge, case closed, is absurd.
The rules violation in Spygate was simply this: they videotaped the Jets coaches from the field. If they had videotaped them from a stadium booth it would have been fine. Here’s the NFL rule: “No video recording devices of any kind are permitted to be in use in the coaches’ booth, on the field, or in the locker room during the game...All video shooting locations must be enclosed on all sides with a roof overhead.”
Last week Raven coach John Harbaugh charged the Pats with running illegal formations. Turns out they were perfectly legal, according to the NFL office.
Anything else?
It depends upon the environment in which the balls were originally inflated. If they were inflated in a 70 degree locker room, and then taken outside to a 45 degree playing field, presumably the PSI of the balls would drop to some extent.
If they had been barely within the lower PSI limit, they likely would have dropped below that limit when taken out into the cold.
This whole thing is academic as the Patriots destroyed the Colts in the second half when supposedly the Patriots’ footballs were within the proper PSI range.
As to the playoffs and the NFL, I don’t give a hoot as many players, teams, and NFL management are corrupt.
However, the final judgment should be based on the laws of thermal dynamics and include known rates of diffusion of gases, including air, through membranes. At least at this point the old classical PVT=NRT should be a guide for a reasonable resolution including penalties.
One more reason.
NFL?
NFW.
Wouldn’t it be hilarious if we find out that two weeks ago, the Seahawks, the Patriots, the NFL and NBC had a secret meeting.
“You guys win the playoffs, then create a controversy about deflated footballs, and we’ll talk it up in every media outlet, Then, we’ll charge an extra $500,000 per minute for commercials during the Super Bowl after the viewership skyrockets. After the big game, we’ll get together and divvy up that $500,000 extra per minute amongst ourselves. What do you guys say? Are you in?”
I know, I know. But after six years of Obama, and now the crying Cheeto and that turtle McConnell, we’re living in a bizarre world where nothing should surprise us anymore.
Since this is the first time the NFL has played football in the cold I guess it can be excused then. Also, football players cannot be expected to do the math, P1V1/T1=P2V2/T2, It's way to fricken complicated./s
Wow you are all such experts so what temp was the air in the balls when they were tested? What psi were they when first tested? What psi were they after the game? What psi were the colts balls before the game? What psi were the colts balls after the game? You don’t know. And as I said if they cheated they deserved to be fined until then stfu.
But most of all I see sports as entertainment, maybe more so than athletic competition. Here, I agree with you on hanging on to childish fantasies. We seem to admire people doing extraordinary things that we can only dream of. So we make stars of people who's faces and bodies have been altered with surgeries and silicone so they can appear in a way that is supernatural. So, why not let athletes use whatever they wish to turn out the best performances that will make their fans swoon with envy?
If you could ask anyone turning pro if they would trade future health for youthful fame and fortune, most would probably say yes. So, I say, "let's open the door and let 'em all run with what ever they want".
At some point the desire for true performance might prevail and "clean" competitions will become more interesting. Until then, if it's all dream teams and dream drugs - what the hell?
Good question - are PED tests before and after the game???
“Good question - are PED tests before and after the game???”
Thanks for phrasing my doubts into a good question.
Nope. A couple of times a year, most are scheduled well in advance but there’s one “surprise” test every year. You pretty much have to be dumb or unlucky to get caught.
You’re wearing your thinking cap tonight. Spot on.
We’re watching a scripted play unfold.
LOL.
As if someone else’s opinion, and the abysmal play of a different team, absolve you of your need to abuse those who disagree with you.
NEW ENGLAND PATRIOTS Bill Belichick on Deflategate: Patriots 'followed every rule to the letter
http://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/nfl/patriots/2015/01/24/new-england-patriots-bill-belichick-tom-brady-deflategate-announcement-internal-study/22275993/
Oops. This entire issue has reached the lofty atmospheric levels of high comedy. Now, I'm not a cynical kind of guy, but the fact that this controversy has managed to place stories on the two Superbowl contenders on every screen, in every broadcast between last weekend and Superbowl weekend, is simply a happy coincidence for the NFL. And I'm Little Orphan Annie.
However, it's clear to me that cheating actually was taking place here, earnest disquisitions on gas physics notwithstanding. And this affair being a blot on the stainless reputation of America's high religion, football, I pronounce myself offended. Beheadings. That's what we need here. (Ululating).
After Brady’s first TD the game will be stopped for 20 minutes while the football is inspected! This is getting to be ridiculous!
You are amusing.
The coach of the Patriots says they didn’t cheat, therefore you aver they didn’t cheat. Such faith.
But I agree that the Jets suck - and have since I first learned to like them!
