Groucho meets a single librarian and a young policeman, a television expert and a housewife, and an auctioneer and a square dance caller.

Today, it would be a reality called "Intervention - Sober House Life" featuring profanity laced beeps, fights, brawls, and constant tension. Groucho would meet a single welfare mother of 12 chilrins by 9 Baby Daddies, a young gang banger high on meth, a computer hacker with a heroin addiction, a transgendered prostitute, a foul mouthed regular from the show Storage Wars who punches other participants, and a Hip Hop DJ with metal teeth who has been arrested 27 times before the age of 15.

In 1952, my Mom went into labor with me while watching “You Bet Your Life”.

It explains a lot.

Last time I checked, they’re re-running on JLTV, along with other vintage Borscht-belt and new Jewish shows.

I almost never watch TV anymore. Nevertheless it occurs to me that I’m a true child of The Tube.

I learned about married life by watching Burns and Allen.

I got my sense of humor from Groucho Marx “You Bet Your Life” and Jackie Gleason’s Variety Show.

Potpourri culture from Ed Sullivan.

How to be a parent from “Leave it to Beaver.”

And of course spiritual development courtesy of Bishop Fulton J. Sheen.

I guess it’s no wonder that I can’t cope with “Now,”
