The Wrap ^

The Wachowski siblings Jupiter Ascending is not The Matrix, according to the majority of critics panning the science fiction spectacle starring Channing Tatum as an intergalactic bounty hunter and Mila Kunis as the oblivious heir to the universe.
The Warner Bros. release has 31 percent rotten approval rating from 49 critics counted, so far, by Rotten Tomatoes. Unfortunately, even the 15 reviews the critic aggregator considers fresh arent very positive.

How could they have messed up a potentially good movie so bad??? Perdogg ~ Hollywood studios. Hollywood is not about creativity, only about formulas.
Formulas and politics. Many a good idea has been ruined by mercilessly hammering it to fit a political agenda.

Okay, I’m going to have to see that one—thanks. The awfulness beckons me.

What was that sci-fi movie with Sean Connery wearing a ponytail and a diaper?

That’s the one! From 007 to...that. What a comedown.

A local reviewer here said that it is intentionally bad and not to be taken seriously. He said it should be seen on a level with the old “Flash Gordon” serials.

I had to know if I was correct-I was, after all in college at the time, and not always observant-but it does exist, is still available on the Faberge website for $25.00 for 1/2 oz...

Yes....but they pioneered that 360 degree surround quickclip technique... They should stick to doing special effects under the strict control of a competent director.
And they should never, ever, ever have control over a check book.

Oh yes, excellent movie.
That one is one of a very few M. Knight Shamalon moves that I have really liked.
I also love Unbreakable and Devil. Devil I found to be very scary and with so essentially no special effects at all. Just the story and subject matter was enough to generate considerable fear.

Yeah, but I was a heck of a lot younger back then (as most of us were)...and that was about the first real science/space fiction I’d seen. It used to come on Saturday mornings at 7AM...and I never missed it. It was great.
