Lots of guys who washed out spend a bunch of time with some coach and “relearn” how to play. Then if they get back in the league the first rush hits and they revert to form. In the world where you have 2.4 seconds to throw that ball instinct is a powerful, and retraining your instincts when you’re in your 20s is borderline impossible.

That was the complaint/observation about Tebow the first time he was in the league after "relearning" how to throw.

Manning and Brees have had excellent mechanics and defense reading ability from the word go. Tebow has a 3 year playing gap—maybe it matters, maybe it doesn’t.

27 is getting pretty old to try and make a comeback.

But with only 3 downs to make a 1st, they pass even more up there. This is largely the reason he hasn’t already gone there. He better have fixed himself.

He has other things that need fixing first.

“Fixed” has a dual meaning, either it is taking somethign that is broken and repairing it, or in the field of veternary medicine it is the sterilization of an animal.

Steve Young was 30 when he finally took over for Joe Montana.

Staubach was 30 before he took over as the Cowboys’ QB.

He might have been another Doug Flutie, but Tebow has said that he does not want to play in the CFL.

The field being bigger in the CFL isn’t a plus for runners. Also, having only three downs versus four in the NFL usually ends up with first down run, second down pass, third down punt. It requires moderate run and superior passing ability. I don’t know if that’s Tebow.

In baseball Tim would have been kicked back down to the minors where his mechanics could be tweaked until he was ready to move back to the big leagues, if ever. I wish him success in getting back into the NFL.

"He’ll have to do phenomenal to get his haters to quiet down."

Never happen. If Tebow walked on water, his haters would question his ability to swim.

But enough about Newt Gingrich. ;)

It seems the opposite to me. It says that if Tim can’t get a QB job, there is a glut of superior quarterbacks in the NFL.

A glut of superior QBs in the NFL?!? I'm guessing you don't watch much football.

That Tebow can't even get a job riding the pine for a team like the Raiders, Browns, Titans, Chiefs, Jaguars, Cardinals, Redskins, Bills, Texans, Buccaneers, Jets or Rams should tell you all you need to know.

I dare say I watch more football than average.

But this is a matter of logic. If Tim is that good and can’t get a job, it means he isn’t as good as what they have already. And that doesn’t point to a shortage.

Where have we heard that before?

Quarterback coach claims to have fixed Tim Tebow's throwing motion

Well there’s certainly a glut of so-so QBs like Tim. The big advantage they have over Tebow is they don’t come with this cult of followers that will demand they get put in every time the starter throws an incomplete pass.

There have been many talented quarterbacks who have been ruined by trying to “fix” them. And BTW many more talented quarterbacks who were overlooked because they didn’t fit the measurables. Tom Brady?

My advice for the NFL teams is that if you aren’t happy with the way the players played the game in College, then don’t draft them.
