The French government is expected to throw its weight behind amendments to a new health bill that would ban the fashion world from hiring underweight models, slapping violators with fines or even prison sentences, the health minister said Monday
The bill, which will be debated in parliament on Tuesday, also proposes banning websites and other forums that are viewed as promoting anorexia and other eating disorders.
This is an important message to young women, young women who see these models as an æsthetic ideal, Health Minister Marisol Touraine said, adding that the Socialist government is likely to back the bill.
Its important for fashion models to say that they need to eat well and take care of their health.

HA! The modeling companies are there to make money. The advertising companies are there to make money. The models themselves are fed a daily breakfast of cocaine that keeps them going all day, and pay them millions of dollars. Where else can a girl with an IQ of 70 make $10million?
And on more thing... I bet ain’t nary one of them models knows how to make a decent green bean casserole. PFFT!

In the fashion world, Playboy Centerfold girls are considered "plus size".
When they talk about "skinny models", they are talking about girls like this:
They did specify Super Skinny. Ya know, the kind that make a Kate Moss-type heroin addict seem zaftig by comparison.
Personally, I’d much rather have France set quotas for fat, average and thin people on TV. And for good looking vs. ugly people on TV too. Especially news anchors.
