Starbucks CEO: No Tolerance for Traditional Marriage Supporters
The Examiner ^ | 3/23/15 | Victor Medina

Posted on 03/24/2015 6:17:13 AM PDT by jonatron

At the Starbucks annual shareholders meeting on Wednesday, CEO Howard Schultz sent a clear message to anyone who supports traditional marriage over gay marriage: we don't want your business. After saying Starbucks wants to "embrace diversity of all kinds," he told a shareholder who supports traditional marriage that he should sell his shares and invest in some other company.

According to a report by Forbes, Schultz seemed a bit intolerant of any Starbucks shareholders who opposed gay marriage for moral or religious reasons. During the meeting, shareholder Tom Strobhar (who founded the Corporate Morality Action Center) pointed out that after the company voiced its support for a referendum backing gay marriage in Washington state, a boycott by traditional marriage supporters caused a drop in sales revenue.

Schultz told him "You can sell your shares in Starbucks and buy shares in another company" if he did not agree with the company's pro-gay marriage stand.

Some tolerance is more tolerant than others.

He, and Starbucks, needs to be sued. Religious discrimination.

Overpriced burned coffee - how can I boycott what I already do not buy.

Dunkin Donut’s coffee is tastier and cheaper, but mostly I just make my coffee at home.

I was a regular Starbucks customer...between ramping up the race issue and this, no thanks. I don’t need products to be be pushing an issue. I need a good product. Frankly, there are better products out there. Starbucks best asset is convenience. They are everywhere and easy to find near work, home, travel, shopping, etc. I guess they don’t need more revenue.

I can’t believe Starbucks is still in business. I had a Starbuck’s coffee ONCE, just to see what the hype was about. Let’s just say, it was the most OVER PRICED cup of coffee I’ve ever had, and it wasn’t even good coffee. It was my first and last. McDonald’s coffee is so much better and isn’t ridiculously priced.

I will go on record here and now to state that Howie's role at SB’s will be reduced or eliminated within the next six months. He has become bad for business and the board will act.

My feelings exactly. I only stopped there when traveling. But not anymore. I will try not to buy Apple products either. Not because the CEO is gay, but because of his comments to people who support traditional marriage.
