CHICAGO -- When you sit down to watch television, you probably don't imagine that your TV is also watching you. But Consumer Reports says that new models of some popular brands of smart TVs can record and share information about everything you watch.
It's likely you don't think you've invited a spy into your home when setting up a new TV. But this Samsung can record and share everything that's viewed, whether it's a broadcast or streaming from the Internet. And some smart TVs can even track what DVD you're watching.

ahh.....cool!
Glad to see he is doing well. He’s the one non-Communist for whom the fall of the Soviet Union had to be a real downer.
I began faxing the stores whose ads pop up on this machine telling them I will not purchase from them again and passing it onto my list. If everyone did that, these obnoxious ads might stop or at least slow down.
And if you use Siri your iPhone is snooping on you as well. When you speak a command, the data is sent to a central server that actually does the speech decoding.
The FUTURE!.......It's here.............SMART TV's and DUMB PEOPLE...............
The joke of this is you don’t need a “smart” tv, I assume the cable/satellite/Roku/Fire/Netflix/Hulu box is doing the same things and nobody is mentioning them.
My smart T.V. remains dumb, as I don’t connect it to the internet at all. Really didn’t want the smart option, but it wasn’t optional anymore as it had been the previous year for this model.
you think they’d have to sift through the data manually? LOL
no.
voice recognition will find key phrases they’re interested in. it’ll feed into a phrase database to ‘rate’ your conversations and map them through time. this will allow them to see the pattern of rhetoric as it changes. they will also be able to overlay your movements, tracked by your cell phone, with the movements of others to find your acquaintances.
most of this already exists. whether or not its admissible in court is a different issue.
Since they are making money off of me, then Samsung should be gifting me a free tv and inform me of the strings attached. Otherwise, this is MY tv paid for with MY money in MY house and I should be able to watch what I want without BB snooping in.
TV ping...
1984 is here.
Have you sent a cyber hug to your NSA watcher today?
LOL good one.
Anyone, who doesn’t realize whatever we watch on cable
Or satellite is stored and used for marketing data or ? Is not living in reality
Our #1 younger tech weinie in our family, says that some of these smart TVs besides monitoring what we watch, can monitor what we say around them.
I get ‘over the air’ tv...with a receiving antenna. Very dumb tv.
