Many causes, chief among them is creeping socialism. Those who work and pay taxes are carrying the burden of millions on food stamps, millions on subsidized Obamacare, millions of illegals receiving benefits, and a slew of welfare subsidies such as free contraception, rent subsidy, heat subsidy, free Obama phones, free medicaid, free translators, free daycare etc etc etc. All those things are free only for the recipients. Someone else is paying for them.

Especially burdened are the small business class due to too many regulations and high taxes.

What’s worse is plenty of politicians and rich people are spending money like water, such as how Barack and Michelle flew to California on separate planes. What’s worse is how much of the population doesn’t mind everyone’s money being spent away, especially the Middle Class.

Julius Caesar would rather have been Chief among a Tribe Wearing Goat Skins and Scalping people for Giggles than a mere Citizen in one of the Advanced Civilizations of it's time.

Plutarch-Having received the government of Farther Spain after his prætorship, he came to a little town in passing the Alps; and his friends, by way of mirth, took occasion to say, “Can there here be any disputes for offices, any contentions for precedency, or such envy and ambition as we see among the great?” To which Cæsar answered, with great seriousness, “I assure you I had rather be the first man here than the second man in Rome.”

With that, I think I finally Understand Liberals/Progressives/Communists, they would burn this country to the ground so long as they could be Kings of the Ashes.

As GraceG put it: Sic Semper Tyrannus

Or something better

Kill those who would rather be kings of ruins than citizens of the cities of civilized man.

As of late, around 20% of people near 65 have not saved anything for retirement at all...

Some, due to misfortune or illness, I can understand; but I suspect many just don't give it much thought....and you can't fix stupid.

The socialism/Bolshevism is speeding it up, but it really boils down to is the standard of living in the West falling to meet the rising standard of living in the East (where our jobs went). Our standard of living was too high for the overlords’ liking, and they will bring it down to a more “equal” level.

looking at that list guess we earned and saved our way out of the middle class. certainly not rich by any stretch but nice to know hard work and sacrifice paid off.

What you say about East is true. However this country has become much more socialist than it was just 50 years ago. No one has ever prospered under socialism. Electing people like Obama has speeded up the process and if Hillary/Warren/O’Malley get elected, the process will speed up further. Creating more dependents will never lift all boats.

It was easier for the boomers. Millenials have it much harder (those reaching young adulthood around the year 2000).

The very day after the 2008 elections, theres a house in a neighborhood next to mine, a house I drive by very often (I dont know the guy or family that lives there. Never met them), a mock tombstone was erected on the front lawn. The tombstone read “RIP MIDDLE CLASS”.

That mock tombstone remained on the front lawn every day up until sometime after the 2012 elections. By then it was pretty weather beaten. Dont know how long after the 2012 elections it stayed. Maybe a few months before they took it down.

I call bullsh1t. What the middle class can’t afford any longer is to remain financially ignorant and not learn how to delay gratification. The number of families actually living on a budget is almost nonexistent. But every family I know that has a budget does quite well, at various income levels.

Had quitea chubk saved up. Then Barack Obama...

Gone.

Its not that we don’t want to save. We CAN’T save. The cost of everything has gone through the roof (even though gas has gone down) and the income has been cut. Big time. And I have been trying to fix it with no real success thus far.

I honestly believe one of Obama’s key mission was to destroy the middle class, the white component primarily. The evidence is everywhere.

Just the way the “progressives” want it.

What they ultimately want is for all of us dead. They want the whole planet for themselves.

I think that we have a large group of people who are stealing from companies and the government to live rich. They may claim they’re making $50,000 a year, but they’re bringing home more than that.

Unfortunately, there are so many of them, and they are no longer afraid of jail. They make the conscious choice to risk three years in prison for ten years of living rich. We are going to have to start hanging some thieves or we’ll soon be a nation of thieves stealing back-and-forth from each other.
