Just for clarity:
The Trebuchet is sat on an island and faces 90 degrees away from the castle. With most of the castle behind it. :)

It was probably going through a middle age crisis anyway.

More of a 30 degree slip to the right than a backfire.
The boathouse is halfway down the range and to the right. It was only a matter of time.

Does a trebuchet sling a cannonball?
And just what IS a “flaming cannonball?”

the world's largest working siege machine destroyed a medieval boathouse by fire. Hmmmm. Still works then.

Was a Wile E. Coyote and Road Runner involved?
Did the cannonball have an ACME label on it?

Oh, no! I love the peacocks at Warwick Castle. The rest of it was rather grim, especially if you read about Warwick in the War of the Roses.
To: Eaker
LOL! Those are critical questions.
