Ben Affleck persuaded the producers of Finding Your Roots to edit out details of how his ancestors were slave owners even though it was a breach of PBS editorial rules.
The new Batman star, who supports a number of liberal causes, objected to the ancestry TV show airing how his distant relations were racist, leaked Sony emails reveal.
Instead viewers were shown heartwarming stories of how his third grandfather was a mystic in the Civil War and how his sixth grandfather was a patriot who fought in the American Revolution.
Daily Mail Online has reviewed a transcript of the show and watched the video and there is no mention of slavery in the part featuring Affleck.

This is particularly sad because the two of them have been my favorite actors ever since they starred together in that magnificent historical epic, "Pearl Harbor".

My 3rd GGF and his two brothers came from a Quaker family and were abolitionist. A month after Sumpter, they all three enlisted in Wheeling in the 1st Virginia Infantry (Now West VA, so it was a union unit). They served for the duration

We found, a few years ago, that my Great-great-great granddaddy was an overseer on a plantation in Alabama back in the 1830s.
Maybe that is why some colored people have our last name.

Dig in the past and you may not like what you find. Since the show apparently went along with Affleck, I will never watch it. (Oaky, I’ve seen all of 5 minutes, total, but I will now actively boycott.)
What would be sweet would be Al and Jessie showing up at Affleck’s next movie set demanding reparations. LOL
He’s not hurting for cash. If that were me, I’d wouldn’t try to cover up my ancestry, I’d start a scholarship for the United Negro College Fund. Then, everyone would benefit.

The Batman v Superman trailer was just released...Affleck trying to look bad-ass, but I don’t know...
