I've looked and been unable to find any news story that says whether the six cops who were involved in moving Mr. Grey were Black, White, Hispanic (or, I suppose, other). It's my understanding that five of the six have given statements to the investigators and one, presumably for Fifth Amendment reasons, hasn't.
The race of the cops is obviously relevant but i haven't seen anything that says what race(s) they are.
The wisdom and knowledge of all Freepers will be gratefully accepted.
Having lived around the DC area....I can vouch that the ratio for DC and Baltimore cop departments are mostly black (fire departments are different subject/ratio).
I will also offer this observation. Drug-related arrests in Baltimore are a daily event. If the cops wanted to make a show...they could probably dedicate the majority of cops on one single day and arrest two-hundred guys for drug-possession. If you read carefully through the local newspapers of Baltimore....there’s probably two or three deaths per week which you can attribute to drugs within the city. No one writes epic stories over their demise or the dealers who sold them the stuff. The drug deaths also don’t get into the murder statistics, which are a totally different numbers game. You can probably ask the Baltimore mayor how many druggies died in Baltimore last month, and she’ll have that deer-in-the-headlight look.
It’s about race.
I think it’s culture far more than race...and if it is race it’s primarily the blacks he feed into it.
Can’t see them very well in this video. Will try to find a better one for seeing the police.

Looks like three involved shortly after the injury—all white.

And yes, more police may have become involved even later after the time of the injury.
This is what we get for allowing the Democratic left in this nation to keep our black people enslaved to the government for their very existence and to deflect blame for the consequences, now obvious, onto those who know that dependency shackles able bodied people, just as surely as slavery did in the old South. If you tied your child’s legs as a toddler and never let him learn to walk, he would be an invalid. This is what our government has done to the majority of black people. The opportunities are more than there for them above what is available for white people. All they have to do is to take advantage of those opportunities and they will escape the slavery the government has encouraged for them. Single Mother’s with a number of children from several father’s, is a direct result of being able to get more government money for each child. It leads to a culture which breeds hopelessness and anger begging to place the blame somewhere else. It is personal behavior, culture and lifestyle which has to change and until everyone acknowledges that, nothing will change. In fact, all of it will get worse.
The driver is going to take the fall for giving him a “rough ride.” My guess.
Charges against any black cops will be dropped; charges against the white ones will remain.
its amazing that these political animals can create and defend a literal hellhole..and expect anything but hellish behavior to result.
I think most of us would say after 1980....things changed. The mild drug culture that existed prior to 80’s just involved marijuana, and petty crime was a minor issue for cops to get involved with. After the 1980s...crime escalated and statistical averages started going higher. This is when most departments all went through a manpower growth period, and we ended up hiring a bunch of guys who just weren’t capable of behaving as cops.
Go look around Memphis, Baltimore, St Louis, Chicago, DC, and Philly....there are areas of these towns where you don’t go (day or night). Even in towns like Charleston today...there are areas which you’d best avoid. All this chatter about problems....just leads back to the growth of the drug period.
There would be hourly proclamations from the likes of Revrunt Sharpton.. and calls for their deaths from the black panthers.
Odd how that is

@Pepsionice. Several “government actions/mandates/laws” have contributed (if not caused) this pitiful situation we see today. First, in the mid-80s LBJ created the “Great Society,” which he, himself, said would have the blacks voting democratic for the next 200 years. Enslaving the blacks on the “government plantation” was deliberate. Next the government brought in “affirmative action” and “minority quotas” to ensure more minorities were hired regardless of qualifications. Minorities were promoted above more qualified whites...etc. These are just some of the reasons “we ended up hiring a bunch of guys who just werent capable of behaving as cops.” LBJ’s Great Society also contributed to a breakdown in the black family base which is a major cause of black youth violence.
wish I had thought of that
Actually, corrupt cops are the same inside no matter the color of skin.
