More seriously, does this account for the missing matter which caused galactic spin rate to not match their observed mass and eliminate the need for some type of "dark matter" which can only interact with other matter gravitationally.

Hubble observations indicate that the Andromeda and Milky Way galaxies will merge to form a giant elliptical galaxy beginning about 4 billion years from now.

Or, as I suspect, are orbiting each other, and have been for some time.
