A Hyson Green supermarket could lose its licence next week after a police raid found nearly 8,000 illicit cigarettes and vodka containing "industrial grade solvent".
Trading Standards found 399 packets of counterfeit cigarettes at Super Sam's in Gregory Boulevard following the raid on January 6.
Six pouches of tobacco were also found in the raid with all the goods seized after being found in a hidden area behind the shelves in the shop.
The raid also uncovered Arctic Ice Vodka which contained the solvent so contaminated it was deemed "unfit for human consumption".
A report going to the licensing panel at Nottingham City Council on Tuesday said the owner of the shop sold the fake cigarettes "to keep up with other shops in the area".
A decision will be made at the meeting to decide the appropriate punishment for owner Yosuf Barawari.

Nottingham is a s-hole. I used to live there when I was a kid, and whilst it was pretty rough at the time it has gone down even further. Its the one part of England where ordinary police officers are routinely armed, it is that bad.
Coupla years back I was at a birthday party for my then three year old grandson. A football game was playing in the background, and a Bud Lite advert comes on. My eight year old grandson, his older brother pipes up, "What's Bud Lite?" My wife looks over at me and says, "We don't like Bud Lite, do we, Paqa (me)?" His other grandmother tries to reinforce the message, "No we don't, do we, Paqa?"
I am nothing if not amenable, and in a spirit of a honesty and respect, I replied, "Give me a Pilsner, or stout, maybe an ale or a good lager, but that dishwater [I was trying to be polite] they call Bud Lite? Never!" My wife shot her co-grandmother a look that said "Don't encourage him." Hey, I was just trying to help.
My grandson was not in the least confused, and seemed to take my reply to heart.
Supersam’s looks like the kind of place I’d go to buy vodka if I needed something to get bubblegum out of my hair or loosen a stuck screw.
