Hey, guys, a cell phone has been going off near me repeatedly in the last several minutes with a strange phone number on it (I'm not answering it). When I tried typing it into Google, nothing came up because it's a strange 12-digit number:
252-616-807-008
Any ideas ?
If they can’t leave a message, they will reach you by letter....just ignore it. I often will put the number in my contact list under “don’t answer 1,2,3”
Not sure the country code - not US
The NSA will contact you if it is a really important call - they work for YOU you know!
Somalia has a country code of 252. Maybe they want to inform you that you’ve been named as the heir of a deposed general who needs your help with transferring money out of the country.
It’s likely hijacked cell phone. Scammers use people’s cell phones t make calls through.
I would think you call Peggy, Peggy don’t call you.
I was thinking it must be foreign, but typing the number into Google produced no results at all. Surely someone had gotten this call before because the cell went off 5 times in 5 minutes. A bit jarring to get at after 3am.
Who ever it was, I’m sure they would have taken VISA.
Is this just a random cell phone, sitting unattended?
No, this is my father’s cell. He leaves it in this office overnight. If this an emergency, we have a landline here folks (family) can contact us (and they almost never call the cell, and certainly not overnight). Obviously, he gets spam calls, but usually the number comes from the usual suspects, this one stood out because the number had the odd 12 digits and kept repeatedly calling (5 times in as many minutes).
don’t have a clue on your number but will do some backtracking ...
OK, thanks.
A telephone number can be faked — “spoofed” as it is referred to — so the number indicated may not be the actual number of the originating telephone.
Google is your friend:
Somalia
The Somalia country code 252 will allow you to call Somalia from another country. Somalia telephone code 252 is dialed after the IDD. Somalia international dialing 252 is followed by an area code.
Oh, it was me.
Sorry about that; I sat on my phone accidentally.
have a reference of 252 also being U.S. eastern N.C. ???
here is a guess ... this is only a guess ... the number originated in Michigan and is ‘spoofed’ into eastern N.C. This one is new (to me) in the use of twelve digits. Perhaps someone will come along and be able to explain what happened but another suspicion is there are some dropped digits in the ‘spoof’ and working in reverse the ‘spoof’ could also involve area code 807 — and an international operator via 008 ??? Know is not any help but my appreciation for bring this call to the forum.
Not since Congress stopped their spying. We are no longer being observed!
Yee-Haw!!
