Now is the winter of our…frowny face.

There’s a new line of “books” that translate Shakespeare for kids. With emojis and text messages.

(Excerpt) Read more at twitchy.com ...

TOPICS: Books/Literature
KEYWORDS: emojis; shakespeare
Isn't this straight of "Fahrenheit 451" where symbols/pictography replaced the written word or Newspeak from "1984" where the "language" gets more simpler over time?

THIS;

Emoji (絵文字えもじ?, Japanese pronunciation: [emodʑi])

are the ideograms or smileys used in Japanese electronic messages and Web pages, the use of which is spreading outside Japan. Originally meaning pictograph, the word emoji literally means "picture" (e) + "character" (moji). The characters are used much like ASCII emoticons or kaomoji, but a wider range is provided, and the icons are standardized and built into the handsets.

Would've been helpful ..... or is there an intentional momentum to speak newspeak and leave us speakers of English to question either;

you and what you mean .....

or remain silent as we question ourselves ?

I’m honestly shocked that you attacked him/her for this. It’s a pretty safe assumption that someone who uses Internet forums (such as this one) knows what an emoji is.

It’s kind of like assuming that a person who lives it Texas knows what a tortilla is...

No, it isn't a safe assumption at all. Why would an adult know, I don't .

Have you ever pried an 8 track from it’s stuck in the player because the tape got tangled in the capstan ?

And people wonder why the USA has lost it’s competitive edge and most college grads have the smarts of a high school student of 20 years ago.

"No, it isn't a safe assumption at all. Why would an adult know, I don't ."

And then you throw "Twitchy" around like it's been around forever... At some point, an assumption has to be made

I don’t even know what you just said, and I don’t know what twitchy is.

Are you one of those young guys who does all the kid things on his phone or something?

"I don’t even know what you just said, and I don’t know what twitchy is".

Umm... You just used "twitchy" in a previous post. Also, no, I don't even use Linkedin.

You mean this post makes you think that I know what twitchy is?

Are you always this hostile?

Sorry, Knarf was hostile first. I guess I got the two conversations blurred. He could have easily said this to you (for using "twitchy"):

Would've been helpful ..... or is there an intentional momentum to speak newspeak and leave us speakers of English to question either; you and what you mean ..... or remain silent as we question ourselves ? "

I'm not trying to hurt anyone's feelings and we've taken this way off topic. I'm done with this conversation.
