Stuff you don't need and don't want. Don't buy back what you already own.OS X Snake Oil
This is a link only due to copyright requirements, but lots of good information on the RixStep site and well worth the read.
And therein lies the rub. IT guys like their job so why would they install equipment that makes them obsolete?
$$$$$$$$$ that is the reason.
RofE answer is closest to mine.
The reason I observe that so many people have Windows installed is because they need Windows compatibility. Most people who do this need to satisfy either a customer or an employer. I have found that satisfying an employer is often in irrational process - the very existence of the Windows OS is what satisfies him, not any actual compatibility.
I love my Macs. I tolerate my Windows (aside from Vista which was an unmitigated disaster all around). I’m not a Windows hater. It’s just not as good. I think the main advantage of Windows is to prevent Apple from having a monopoly and getting soft and lazy.
(If sheer numbers were proof of anything, that would mean the climate change crowd is right.)
No, that’s what “Apple Care” is for.
If the machines were so perfect you simply wouldn’t need that warranty for anything.
Most people can’t fix their own Mac’s without reinstalling everything. Or taking it into their local “help me I’m a tech neophyte” Apple Store. That’s the secret to Apple’s “success”. Just like car dealers do with their service centers.
And speaking of which, driving your car without any issues is it? Feel free to email me the VIN of your “perfect” vehicle and I’ll be happy to look it up to see just how “flawless” it’s really been, right down to the safety recalls. I’m sure you wouldn’t mind that...would you?
I’m glad you have an open mind.
“Good” is personal either way. My great grandson is into games. He won’t run anything but Windows. My granddaughter likes Mac’s because she does a lot of graphics work. They’re both happy with what tools they have.
Both are tools for the trade. It’s like arguing over whether Snap-On or Lyle tools are better than the other. Both get the job done. Both have pluses and minuses.
When you stop working ON your computer and start working WITH it, it makes all the difference.
You don’t actually have to be an idiot, you can just act like one and you seem to be really good at it.
If you install one of the anti virus packages from a third party, they will turn it off, because they have to allow the downloads to not be intercepted for their software to scan it. . Otherwise, no.
Sir, you insulted all Mac users by calling the "simpler". . . an insult if I ever heard one. You deserved being called ignorant because with that attitude you are ignorant and I demonstrated why.
And MacDonalds is a gourmet restaurant.
Again you display your complete ignorance of Apple, Macs, and everything about them. I can't think of anyone that needs to fix their own Macs by "reinstalling everything." You simply don't know what you are talking about! You've proved my point, once again. You are ignorant about Macs. . . yet you claim knowledge you don't have because you don't use them.
That's what I thought. How do I turn it back on?
Using the Terminal with the UNIX command in the posts above.
