110-year-old woman drank three beers and a shot every day for years

The secret to making it to 105 years old is apparently a daily dose of alcohol.

Making it five more years, however, means you may have to cut back.

Those are the lessons coming from Agnes Fenton, who turned 110 on Saturday, when she officially became a supercentarian.

Fenton told ABC in an interview for her 105th birthday that she enjoyed three Miller High Life’s and a shot of Johnnie Walker Blue Label scotch every day for nearly 70 years.

She didn’t start until she was 35?

Hmm... I don’t know if I could do Miller’s and blended scotch on a daily basis.

Perhaps a quality Mexican beer and a single malt scotch, though...

Damn! I wonder how long she’d live if she didn’t drink.

When she dies, medical professionals will call it “alcohol-related”.

Asked ahead of her birthday if her caregivers would relent and give her a shot of Johnnie Walker, Fenton replied: “They better.”

I like this lady!

Blue Label has only been AROUND for a little more than 20 years (since 1992). It is also a VERY expensive habit. Perhaps the reporter misunderstood her, and sheupgraded to Blue just for her birthday.

(From Wikipedia:)Blue Label: Johnnie Walker's premium 80–86 proof (40–43% ABV[17][18]) blend with no age statement. Johnnie Walker Blue Label, also known as Max Walker, is blended to recreate the character and taste of some of the earliest whisky blends created in the 19th century.[19] Bottles are numbered serially and sold in a silk-lined box accompanied by a certificate of authenticity. It is one of the most expensive blended Scotches on the market, with prices in the range of US $200–$450.

I’d like to turn Agnes on to a pint of Guiness and a shot of Bushmill’s. Infinitely better for you. :=)

Give her some slack. She was in north Jersey and took up beer shortly after prohibition and WWII ended. She wasn't going to get Anchor Steam or Guiness in those days. It was gonna be Miller, Bud, Schmidt's or Rheingold, among others. After a while you get used to it. Plus, its in all of the restaurants.

I grew up in Jersey in the 70's

You forgot PBR's, Schlitz...

I have to admit I drank my fair share of PR's and Schlitz.

Dirt cheap and they all came out the same...!

Those days you could buy $.25 drafts and spend $5.00 the whole night...!

My grandparents used to always take 5 or 6 cases of Pabst to the sisters in the convent in Richmond, VA we used to visit, they loved that stuff.
