Two and a half years ago, a man who eats tuna filed a class action lawsuit against Starkist, a tuna company. His allegation was that the company was deliberately under-filling each can by a few tenths of an ounce. That might not make a difference to one consumer making one tuna salad, but would add up over millions of cans. While Starkist doesnt admit fault, the case has been settled.
If youre a resident of the United States and bought at least one five-ounce can of any of these tunas from Starkist between February 19, 2009 and October 31, 2014, youre eligible to file a claim:

Meanwhile, amoral lawyers screw American industry again, in yet another financial feeding frenzy.
Even the tuna canned in “water” contains the soy. Look at the label. But Season and Gefen have no soy, so for me mean joy.
Sounds like a marine version of cheap cat foods like Friskies, Whiskas, 9 Lives, etc. Pure junk, rendered euthanized pets, zoo animals and road kill, full of grain, etc. You can bet MY kittehs are not offered such garbage foods. They get Wellness, Blue, etc.

IT SEEMS LIKE THERE IS A LOT MORE WATER AND LESS TUNA, AND THAT THE TUNA IS OFTEN NOT SOLID EITHER.
ANYWAY ANOTHER $50 OF THE PRODUCT, EVEN IF ITS QUALITY SEEMS TO HAVE DECLINED..... WILL BE WELCOME
I know my folks buy Star Kist canned stuff so I will file a claim, for them of course.
$50 tuna for the preps sounds good.
Star Kist could have added that much extra water and no one would be the wiser.
I buy their product all the time.
I’ll file...

I opted for the $25. I can buy cans of good quality light tuna on sale for 69c/can.
There is outright deception going on.
I happened to notice one day awhile back that the Peanut butter we buy had less peanut butter in it (marked on the package with less ounces in it in small type) yet the jar was the exact same size and both were filled to approximately the same level in the jar.
Then I turned it over and realized what they had done.
This picture in shows sorta what I am talking about though the type we buy has a much more pronounced indention in the bottom.
I noticed too that the tuna had less in it (marked very small on the package again) yet the can was the exact same size. then just filled the can with less tuna and put in more water or oil.
I have a pic of my mom's kitchen from back in the 90s that shows a "One Pound" bag of Doritos on the counter next to her Microwave. I noticed that you don't see "One Pound" bags much anymore the usually have 11.5 ozs. or there abouts. I took one of the new bags and placed it next to her microwave and took a pic from about the same position and you can tell the bag is almost exactly the same size. Canned goods and such all seem to have less in them now yet the prices continue to climb.
My wife found Trisket crackers on Sale and bought a bunch. We opened one up and it was barely 1/3 full. Why do you need that big of a box with 2/3 of it containing nothing but air? Because it makes it look like the consumer is getting much more than he really is.
I wonder what the lawyers are going to do with their 50% of the tuna...
Hey! I'm a victim, too - I feel - um, powerful!
I'm speakin' truth to power, or tuna, or whatever....
I get this Italian tuna in oil in glass jars from DeLallo’s. It’s incredible! Makes you just want to sop up the excess oil with a piece of bread.
It depends I think. I make a lot of tuna salad and use Mayonnaise. With the oiled packed tuna, you don’t need as much mayonnaise IMO.
Or, you can squeeze off the oil (with the cut lid) and feed it to your cat over their dry food. They seem to love that stuff.

I grew up eating freshly caught blue crab, mano clams (brackish water clam similar to fresh water clams in appearance), oysters, perch, striped bass, blues and trout, to name a few, often food I caught myself. Now I am far from salt water. Canned fish is just something to break the relative monotony of good beef and pork and wild game. I can’t stand breaded whatever, but canned is okay for something different.
I'm gonna get some tuna!
