The Alinsky Man (Trump empowering the powerless)

The Alinsky Man

by Richard Fernandez

August 25, 2015 - 5:55 pm

Watch Jorge Ramos of Univision getting tossed out of a Trump press conference by security after trying to pressure the Donald into answering him in the video below this post. Instead of responding to Ramos, Trump lets security show him the door. Afterward Trump allows that he has no problem letting Ramos back in, and the Washington Post reports the subsequent conversation between the two men.

After Ramos was allowed back in, a showdown over immigration ensued. “Good to have you back,” said Trump to Ramos. The two talked about building a wall at the U.S.-Mexico border, about Trump’s plan to deport undocumented immigrants and then bring back “the good ones” and about gangs. “I want these people — the good people — I want them to come back,” said Trump. The problem is bad management, he continued, telling Ramos that he’s not “used to good management, ’cause you’re always talking about government…Government is incompetent.”

The real news was not in the words exchanged, but in the picture of Jorge Ramos being escorted out. It was not even borne by that picture, but embedded the emotional calculus of the act. Everyone who thinks Obama was an Alinsky disciple should watch Trump in action. He understands the Alinsky principle that public events are not about bandying words. They are about creating opportunities for transgressing certain emotional boundaries. It’s about “empowering the powerless”.

Trouble-making George Ramos was there to upstage Trump and it was planned. Trump was absolutely right in putting the little sawed -off trouble maker in his place. Once Ramos knew he was not the headliner and his nonsense would not be tolerated he was allowed back in to spout his racist garbage.

To appear a “showman” while effectively dealing with opponents hints more of Sun Tzu than Barnum and Bailey.

That d-bag is a political operative, not a reporter. Trump should have pointed that out, mentioned he is suing his employer, and have him booted. Trump was generous and when he tried to explain his position that guy could not or would not accept his answer.

Here is Robert Reich's take on the same subject. Obviously, he dislikes Trump.

The Revolt Against the Ruling Class

Sunday, August 2, 2015

“He can’t possibly win the nomination,” is the phrase heard most often when Washington insiders mention either Donald Trump or Bernie Sanders.

“The general who knows himself and his enemy can not be beaten.”. Tsun Tzu.

Trump appears to know himself and he is not afraid of that like so many of us are. As he pointed out he is also unafraid to go toe to toe with a room full of hostile reporters and give and take off the cuff. Earlier today a FReeper stated that after watching all 6 seasons of his show she was impressed by his insistence on honesty. The elite hate that you can be sure. He seems to know his enemy pretty well. I suspect Tsun Tzu was right.

Ramos was out of line. Jumping in frontier of the line ignoring the rules- -just like those who come over the border illegally. Trump drew the line and removed him because of his improper behavior. Trump returned him & allowed to resume questioning (legally)
Many parallels

A perfect teachable moment.

Scene #1: You break the rules, you get tossed out on your ass.
Scene #2: Being the fair and benevolent guy I am, I will allow you to speak after you’re agreed to obey my rules.

The Dubuque presser is a perfect model for how to handle illegal immigration.

I read the Robert Reich’s column, the beginning was correct, yet he makes the mistake of falling into, we good they bad politics at the end. He admits occupy fell apart but doesn’t understand why! Occupy fell apart because it was top down from the elites themselves it was never a grassroots movement. In the the column is a big FAIL.

I’m shocked to find a Latino jumping in front of everyone else in line, not following the rules, making a ruckus, getting deported from the room, and then coming back and crying about how unfair it all is.

Moral of the story: kick them out and don’t let them back in.

Writing the truth in the first half of the article and then answering the truth with leftie lies in the second half is how they’re doing the propaganda now. Robert Reich knows full well what he’s doing. He’s not misunderstanding anything.

The truth is that not everybody can be the Alinsky Man.

We all wish that now that Trump has shown the way (by crossing over the Rubicon), our own preferred candidate will simply pick up his battle and lead us to the other side.

It doesn’t really work that way.

Instead of responding to Ramos, Trump lets security show him the door.

Trump had called on another reporter and Ramos was being obstreperous, demanding that Trump respond to him -- even after being told to sit down until called on. Inviting him to leave was the only way to have an orderly press conference in which everyone got to ask questions.
