Teens are increasingly turning to electronic cigarettes not to get their tobacco fix, but instead to inhale pot.

A new study published in the medical journal Pediatrics found that teens have devised ways to turn e-cigarettes into devices for hashish oil, marijuana, wax and other cannabis products. Researchers surveyed 3,847 Connecticut high school students about their drug and e-cigarette use and found that students using e-cigarettes to vaporize cannabis was 27 times higher than the adult rate.

According to the study, 5.5 percent of the students surveyed had used an e-cigarette to vaporize cannabis. In total, nearly 30 percent of students said they had tried marijuana or hashish in some form. Of those students who already smoked marijuana, 18 percent had used an e-cigarette to “vape” the drug. While U.S. Food and Drug Administration officials said they will regulate electronic cigarettes, they have yet to come out with guidelines and regulations for the products. …

There is a liberal push against e-cigarettes. I am not sure about the exact motivation (other than liberal hate of anything inhaled....which puts them at odds with other liberals who do nothing but inhale all day).

But, there is a liberal effort to ban e-cigs and I see this as an angle of attack.

But, don’t worry. The next story will be about vaporizing alcohol in e-cigs.

Thank you. I breathe a lot better. They are evil little things. You know you’d feel better if you didn’t smoke, but then the withdrawal is so miserable that your mind tells you that you will feel better if you smoke.

Using the e-cigs, I’ve only had real cravings a couple of times and they surprised me. With everything else I tried, I was obsessed with getting a pack.

If he’s willing to try, suggest he get a quality ecig that has adjustable settings so he can toy with the “draw” and how much vapor it puts out. And make sure he gets a juice with a high enough nicotine content to avoid withdrawl. I started out with 12% but had to bump it up to 18% to get it right.

I will try again to get him on ecigg.

I love the guy...he’s my bestest childhood friend!

Life would be incredibly boring without him.

Thanks 4 the info :-)

How does one use an e-cig to vaporize cannabis?

Without looking at the YouTube link, I'd guess they make a THC tincture, possibly using pure grain alcohol.

Thanks! This was my last hurrah with kicking the habit. Nothing else stuck and I had trouble with the other cessation products out there.

Are you still vaping or are you nicotine free now?

Excellent! What strength did you start with? I’ve been at 18% and want to start working down. I’m thinking of doing it in 2% increments.

I started using them 6 weeks ago and started at 18mg., but did buy the 12mg and 6mg and mix it in the 18 to cut it down. Used to smoke 1 pack a day.
Also did you know you can soak the filters in alcohol for about 5 days, let them dry thoroughly and reuse them.I live in Vegas and the casino part is the toughest for me, have tried one or 2 cigs but refuse to buy a pack.

Very interesting. I have always thought that drinking alcohol is roughly equivalent to drinking ether.

Rubbing alcohol? I hadn’t heard that but I’ll give it a go.

And congrats to you! I know how hard it can be. Vaping makes it infinitely easier tho.

Thanks, same back at you, hard to give up that old cancer stick.
Not coughing like I used to.
Yes, rubbing alcohol, just soak mine in a little baby food jar for about 5 days and then I dry them out for about 2 days and they work like new.

They are desperately searching for excuses to either outlaw or tax the heck out of vaporizing technology. They lost too many cigg. smokers, I guess, and want $$$$$$.

“In related news, teens elsewhere are using empty soda cans with pinholes to smoke marijuana.”

“Cans” must be outlawed, as must toilet paper rolls, potatoes, apples and aluminum foil. ;-)

“There are a host of vaporizers sold that will combust solid materials (use Google). “

And many are manufactured and sold exclusively for this purpose!

People will always look for ways to numb themselves and make themselves more stupid.

And will even break the law and enrich criminals to do it, as we've learned from Prohibitions past and present.

Oh I started high...at 36mg, then 24, then 18, and now 12. Next step will be 6, then hopefully 0.

I’m still doing the nicotine. I’ve had no side effects to date at all. Plus, I sleep better without having to wake up in a coughing fit every night.

I smoked for thirty years.
