What are some of your favorite quotes? Here are a few of mine:
To learn who rules over you, simply find out who you are not allowed to criticize. Voltaire
The usefulness of a cup is its emptiness. - Bruce Lee
Any fool can commit a murder; a suicide requires a real professional. Genrikh Yagoda Chief of the NKVD during the early 1930s
Socialists can provide you shelter, fill your belly with bacon and beans, treat you when you're ill, all the things guaranteed to a prisoner or a slave.
Wright is one of my favorites, youtube has several good videos of various shows or part of them including his first Johnny Carson show.
Checking those out I also ran across another favorite, Robin Williams...hilarious...

See, the problem is that God gives men a brain and a penis, and only enough blood to run one at a time. - Robin Williams
My grandmother.
Seems most worthwhile quotes/anecdotes/puns/witticisms/political cartoons are on Facebook nowadays
Sometimes this quote is attributable to Tom Landry, but mostly I’ve heard it credited to Paul Brown. Nevertheless...all no nonsense type coaches.
" .... ...... .... Bless his/her heart"
How great is that! Thanks for sharing.
Some years ago the sociologists Talcott Parsons and Edward Shils observed, an orientation toward achievement is inherently individualistic. It is individualism and achievement that make America unique and great. Rewarding people on the basis of their status in some officially defined and sanctioned group will, in the end, do more harm than good. --Thomas M. Wilson
I've always found it sad to see people like Hillary Clinton and lots of other famous people being given awards. It's pitiable that they, with their status, need this acknowledgment. I know the people giving the awards are using them to some degree, but even so.... it's just sad.
The function of government is to govern. “They” will take what “we” will relinquish. ~ Me
It made me think when I saw it though.
Your tagline is my favorite passage. The reference is inscribed inside my husband’s wedding band.
Aristocracy of Pull that I meant is from Atlas Shrugged
Thank you. I always liked the entire chapter 8 of Romans.
My late wife’s favorite verse was Romans: 8-28.
“If you loan a man $20 and never see that man again, it was probably worth it!”
In theory, theory and practice are the same. In practice, they are not.
BookMarking!
Thank you, from a quote collector of sorts ;)

This is true.
You are very welcome. I’m a quotaholic also. Freepers really came through. I’ll be cutting and pasting for a while. I probably should just save the whole thread, there’s so much good stuff here.

Looks like you’re right - for some reason I had this one down from Lombardi (I have a list of my favorite quotes and somewhere along the way must have written it down with the wrong author). Looking at it again now, it really doesn’t look like something a football coach would say! In any case, thanks for the correction.
Thank you. never saw a written version, heard it many years ago.
