China's market is so very closed to American exports there.

Every automaker has set up Chinese manufacturing, because China (completely) protects Chinese manufacturing.

So what do they do? They send manufacturing there, and SEND THE VEHICLES BACK TO AMERICA.

This is wrong.

Completely wrong. GM sucks.

(Just personal opinion, here)

Furthermore, it will probably be a cheaply made and DANGEROUS to our safety, kind of car.

Hope people don’t buy it!

It really doesn’t matter to me, personally. I was done with GM the moment they allowed Obama to screw premium bond holders out of their investment and turned the company over to a Union. They couldn’t make the car I’d want to buy from them, ever.

GM Government Motors. With the Comrade running the government, of course the government will back GM bringing China-made cars in the US.

That new car smell from China made cars will be the aroma of ‘essence of formaldehyde’.

These campaign “opportunities” keep falling into Trump’s lap. I would say that “somebody upstairs” wants Trump to be president!

I’m sorry, but why would anybody believe anything a presumably college educated “NEWS” reporter says when they (and their editors) don’t know how to write a sentence in English.

I think GM is testing the waters. If there is no opposition from consumers, expect to see more cars made in China. I agree with you, NOT a good move on GM’s part.

Before I’d buy a Chinese made car I’d buy a Schwinn.

The Cato Institute puts out the Human Freedom Index which ranks 152 countries on their civil, economic and personal freedom.

http://object.cato.org/sites/cato.org/files/human-freedom-index-files/human-freedom-index-2015.pdf

The USA ranks 20th and China ranks 132nd.

Hong Kong ranks 1st and Iran is last at 152nd.

Sorry but you can't have it both ways. On one hand most of us free-market types spent decades defending these huge corporations' pursuit of profit. When the left was attacking them for making so much money, we said to butt out.

Building stuff in China is just another way for them to increase their profit margin. It's legal and, if you believe in the free market, the obvious thing to do.

The auto industry is under attack. When will the congress start acting like patriots?

Pull all monetary support from GM, demand China stop this Trojan horse attack under the guise of GM and enact retaliatory tariffs. Do it and do it now.

I hope Trump speaks to this.

So why would a country of a billion people need to "dump" product hear when they have a huge demand domestically?

The UAW did this to themselves. They demanded $75,000 for a high school drop out to put lug nuts on cars with a full pension after just a few years.

Cars are ridiculously expensive.

Yep, over the course of the last century manufacturing has
slowly been exported to foreign soils.

GM isn’t wrong.

The questions are.

1) would you buy one? (no)

2) do you feel safe with it on the road next to you? (no)

the quality will probably be garbage, and the warranty costs are going to break GM again.
