Scientists may have found Planet X, the mysterious presence that has eluded astronomers
National Post ^ | December 11, 2015 | Sarah Kaplan

It’s a big, dark presence at the farthest reaches of our solar system, a mysterious force powerful enough to skew the paths of planets in orbit and yet so subtle that it slips undetected past even the most powerful telescopes on Earth. For centuries, it has eluded some of the most brilliant minds in astronomy — some say it even destroyed one. It’s the subject of endless calculations and rampant speculation, crackpot theories and countless hours spent gazing, fruitlessly, at the night sky.

It’s known as Planet X.

And on Tuesday, a group of astronomers said they’d found not just one such presence, but two of them.

It has actually been suspected for a long time that there is around a 3 Jupiter mass object somewhere in the Oort cloud. This is mainly due to studies showing there is a statistical bias in the direction that long period comets seem to come from, as though something is disturbing their normally circular orbital paths. But I’ll wait until more information comes out until I’ll buy into any of this.

If you drew a line from Planet Y to Planet W ... using a ruler or any straight-edge ... then focus on the planets that falls on that line.

There still are a ton of planets between W and Y, it's outer space after all, vast and mysterious, but you'd eliminate all planets before or after those two.

Trivia
Planet O is the only planet that's shaped like its name. When you say it, your mouth makes the same shape. Coincidentally, the number 0 tilted mimics the orbit of most planets that aren't in a perfect orbit - that's why the Moon is spelled with two 0's.

If the zero's suddenly turned into an '@' sign, you can bet we'd all be dead in the blink of an i. Chickens come from eggs which are also shaped like a zero, having a yellow-orange core like a the molten center of the Earth, but what if Earth hatched?

"Planet O is the only planet that's shaped like its name...."

I am very interested. Please tell me more about your religion.
Would I be worshipping you, or would you be pointing me to a heavenly body to worship? Maybe this "Moon" thing you speak of?

More trivia:

1. When Astronomers finally do plot the exact location in space of "Planet X," they will mark it with an "X."

2. If you are among those who still consider Pluto to be a full-fledged planet, and who therefore still believe that our Solar System has nine known planets, then Planet X will increase that to 10 - or, in Roman numerals, X.

Regards,

French curve might be better.

Look, there it was.

Exactly.

Sometimes the universe seems like it was settled by an American, sometimes the Romans. But we know this for sure: There can only be 26 planets at any given time, plus the so called 'special planets' eg, Planet #, Planet ! and the shortest planet, Planet _. Each one having its own memories of good times and bad times, just like any other person.

And isn't that how it should be.

Excerpt:

Here's what Vlemmings and his colleague say they found:

A large rocky something they call "Gna" (for a fast-moving Nordic messenger goddess, one of the authors told Scientific American), that could be an asteroid-type object roughly the size of Ireland zooming around somewhere near Uranus. Alternatively, the researchers propose, it could be an undiscovered planet floating much farther out, or even a brown-dwarf (bigger than a planet, smaller than a star) passing through interstellar space.

Also, a mysterious, unnamed object that appears in the sky close to the Alpha Centauri system that may be a "Super-Earth" planet far beyond even Pluto or a super-cool brown dwarf that's really far. It could also conceivably be an icy "trans Neptunian object," of which there are plenty in the frozen darkness past the eighth planet, but the researchers say that's less likely (it's also, not coincidentally, less interesting).
