In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of "Word for the Day".
Laconic
Adjective
Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the Word for the Day in a sentence.
The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day.
The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-)
Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Roll Call.
Went to the 10:15pm showing of Star Wars last night. The place was packed. Amazing how many will come late at night. I couldn’t get up this morning till now. Still tired.
Donald Trump is many things. One thing he is NOT is laconic.
I always thought laconic was another way of saying lethargic.
No, I’m NOT lazy just because I didn’t open a dictionary to confirm my assumption, so get off my back!!
“Blargh” he laconically stated as the trap door opened beneath him and the tentacular monstrosity below felt the urgent need to give free hugs.
IIRC, the Laconians (in ancient Greece) gave us the word when their city was besieged and they were warned what would happen to them if the city fell. They responded, “If”.
GOPe: If Trump loses in Iowa then he may lose in New Hampshire, then Vermont and it rolls on from there and Rubio becomes the nominee.
Trump. “If.”
When I try to express my wry sense of humor in the laconic manner that is part of my true nature many miss the point so I resort to being a lot more wordy and less laconic than I would prefer to be in the hopes of being better understood and that often results in run-on sentences and a perception that I’m talking down to folks or insulting their intelligence......
New Year’s Eve noise will be supersonic
But I’ll remain calm and laconic
Neither screaming nor brawls
When the Times Square ball falls
I’ll just sip my fifth vodka and ronic
Can I get me a gin and tonic?
Obama, your agenda is gone if we get GOP in House and Senate!
If.
Ugh!
You’re an optimist; I no longer believe the Republocrats intend to roll back much (if anything) if they are in power. When W had the House and the Senate, we didn’t have the unassimilated minority/sexual deviant freak show we’ve witnessed over the past seven years, but we saw little real action on illegal aliens, affirmative action, abortion, etc.
Happy... Is that laconic enough for you?
I’m laconic so I’ll stop here....................
le Connick.
I’m less optimistic of the Republicans now, and I was damn cynical of them over last several years. Bad enough that sh** Ryan sold us out immediately, but all the others who supported that Trillion dollar omnibus bill without a fight disgusts me.
Good choice today. Laconic is constantly misused and misunderstood. I find Trump’s tweets laconic. They are typically brief, concise, terse, succinct, short and pithy.
My 14 year old son grows more laconic with each passing day. Oddly, time is having the opposite effect on my 12 year old daughter.
