"Consistent. Conservative. Trusted."
That's Ted Cruz's campaign slogan. It suggests, among other things, that Mr. Cruz is honest, a man with a moral compass. Campaign slogans are platitudinousness by definition - everyone gets that. But, generally speaking, they communicate something simple and true about the candidate.
In Cruz's case, however, the irony is overwhelming.
The Texas senator has developed a reputation in Washington as a grandstanding huckster, someone who reliably puts himself above the party. Which is why he's arguably less popular among his Republican colleagues than among the Democrats.
It appears that Cruz's reptilian tactics are starting to backfire. They worked in Iowa, but his campaign has been in a steady free fall since. According to a Washington Post report, Cruz's operation is in 'turmoil' after repeated attacks from Republican rivals Donald Trump and Marco Rubio.

Breitbart has an article about Beck now fessing up for lying as well. Must be part of the whole campaign.
If it were just a label, it wouldn’t stick.
Expect truth from Salon?
Rush has been talking about cruz not being a liar for about half an hour now.
_Aren’tcha glad salon is lookin’ out for all us Consevitives? Where would we be without ‘em. /s/
If I understand the principle of double negatives correctly.
Ted Cruz is a liar. But did you know that Trump has read the Bible more than anyone else?

Thanks. Rush has been on a roll over the last week...
Sadly...
It’s basically a given in life, that anytime someone comes out and self-advocates how moral/upright/pure they are, you should probably avoid that person.
Actions, not words.
Watching Trump do this a it dawned on me that the Dem who successfully did this to Romney was Reid.
Very similar in behavior.
And Reid is immune from law-suits when he says things on the Senate floor.
Now if he pulls it on Trump, who knows how it will play out.
Trump probably reads the Bible like
General Patton did, “Every goddamned day.”
Without saying so, I think it will come down to whether people want their President to have two citizen parents, one citizen parent, or no citizen parents.

... Bill Bennett comes strongly to mind.
An excellent point, but Trump is being buoyed up by blind populism, imo. A sympathetic article from Salon won’t be noticed by his supporters.
The gangup on Cruz by Trump and now Rubio is going to be hard to forgive. THe one guy who is out fighting conservative fights gets the guns pointed back at him. Not good. Not good at all. Who’s going to step up next and lead when this is the result? Probably no one. Conservatism is nearly sunk from this circular firing squad.
[Rush has been talking about cruz not being a liar for about half an hour now.]
Because he’s not.
What the hell has happens to FR? It’s like DU around here anymore. Ted Cruz is a good man. He is one of the most conservative Senators in the U.S. senate. Why so many FReepers are taking part In this smear campaign against him is beyond me. Why JimRob is letting his site be used against conservatives is another mystery to me.
A lying liar is telling the truth ....
If I understand the principle of double negatives correctly.
==
Lying Lier> Tells a lie, then lies about telling the lie. Synonymous with the phrase “digging a deeper hole”.
