Pure vanity for the very best of reasons (less about that later).
What repels gypsies?
What is their cross, their holy water, their sunlight?
I have a friend who needs to ward one off.
Zero money; they’ll steal your last penny...anyway they can!
I believe a “real” gypsy. I’ve advised hiring an off duty cop for security.
I’m sure many a decent person has thought to themselves at one point, “Too bad Hitler didn’t finish them off.”

My late wife’s Grandfather was taken by them many years ago.
He paid them to coat his roof with aluminum. The first rain washed it right off. I was surprised that he fell for it as he was pretty shrewd.
At least he didn’t call you a froe. It’s well-known in the South that they’re extremely stupid, perhaps even more than the much-maligned box of rocks.
I have found some series advice for you, but only if the gypsies have stolen your carrots.
Basically, make a raiding party, go at night after they’re drunk and take them by surprise. Capture a large male and force him to stay inside a house. Then they will return your carrots and move on.
Otherwise, dead crows, owls in the daytime or an owl hooting at dawn, seagulls flying over them - these are bad omens.

Well, I have to say, as someone who has some gypsy blood in his family, that I am hurt and distressed by all these old prejudices towards gypsies. Gypsies are modern people looking to earn their way to success.
And if you don’t knock off all the crap about gypsies, I’ll put a curse on you and your children will look like frogs.

Gypsies are from Northern India. For around a century centered on 1330AD the Muslims warred on India and took several million Hindus to sell as slaves in Europe. The majority of them perished in the Hindu Kush Mountains (Afghanistan) from exposure and cold. Hindu Kush means Hindu slaughter. The ones that made it to Eastern Europe eventually became called Gypsies, because they were though to have come from Egypt.

Yep, many years ago my nephew on his trip to Europe was a victim of theft by the gypsies as well as a female friend on one of her trips to Europe........
They are very highly skilled theft artists that will even use babies by "accidentally" tripping and throwing a baby at a mark while their accomplice stands in the ready to pick up the mark's luggage and take off..........
You would think with all of the YouTube videos out there exposing their tricks, people would be wise to them.
