Pluto isn't quite as lonely as scientists had thought.
Astronomers have discovered another dwarf planet in the Kuiper Belt, the ring of icy objects beyond Neptune. But this newfound world, dubbed 2015 RR245, is much more distant than Pluto, orbiting the sun once every 700 Earth years, scientists said. (Pluto completes one lap around the sun every 248 Earth years.)
"The icy worlds beyond Neptune trace how the giant planets formed and then moved out from the sun," discovery team member Michele Bannister, of the University of Victoria in British Columbia, said in a statement. "They let us piece together the history of our solar system."
...
The exact size of 2015 RR245 is not yet known, but the researchers think it's about 435 miles (700 kilometers) wide. Pluto is the largest resident of the Kuiper Belt, with a diameter of 1,474 miles (2,371 km).
The research team first spotted 2015 RR245 in February of this year, while poring over images that the Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope in Hawaii took in September 2015 as part of the ongoing Outer Solar System Origins Survey (OSSOS).
"There it was on the screen this dot of light moving so slowly that it had to be at least twice as far as Neptune from the sun," Bannister said.

I quit cutting my own hair when I decided I didn’t want to look like a fool.
A fool and his hair-cuttery are soon parted.
Fully understood. :)
Hopefully.
Back when I was young and vain I worried about my hair..
Now that I am the advanced age of 34 - which you remember is because I am five years older than my baby sister who is 29 - I kind of just let it go until the conjunction of the following events occurs.
1) I am in proximity to a Super Cuts (or Cutting Crew, or similar business.)
2) I actually think about stopping in to such establishment before I pass it by.
3) I’m not engaged in a pressing emergency fulfillment of something on the honey dew list. (EVERYTHING on the honey dew list is a pressing emergency..)
and
4) I get tired of it taking longer to rinse the shampoo out of my hair than it does to bathe the rest on my body..
It should be noted that reason number 4 is now activated since my last shearing was back in June. Next time I have need to visit WallyWorld, I just might stop at the Super Cuts in the adjacent strip mall..
Besides, they offer a senior discount (even though I’m only 34) and Cutting Crew doesn’t.. ;-)
Be careful about getting a haircut: people might think you’re upset about Donald Trump’s election!

I go to Great Clips. They have experienced stylists/barbers, whereas, Super Cuts hires them straight out of beauty college. Not saying that’s bad, but for my hair, that’s bad, as it is very fine and an inexperienced stylist/barber can end up botching the cut so badly that it takes more than a week of growth to make it a good hair cut.
Plus, Great Clips also give senior discounts, which is always a bonus for those of us over 34. ;o]
Super Cuts is actually within walking distance, and they also give discounts, but my experiences with them have not been good. So I hop into Mr Bill and head up the hill to Great Clips.
And if I’m having a good day, I can think of the phrase, “it needs to be layered, like a long shag,” and actually get it cut that way. And when she is done, she is surprised at the result. *e-vil laughter*
If it’s not a good day for me, it takes me longer to explain it than it does for it to be cut.
Kitteh looks as though s/he is surveying her regal domain. Cute little floof ball... <3
Yes, tiny kitten is in charge.
Good morning. I sewed a badge on Frank’s uniform and mended Kathleen’s Hungarian Horntail, who was losing stuffing from his neck.
It’s cold here.
I go to Ilya over by the gym. I get a consistent cut and it’s still reasonably affordable even here in Gotham.
I used to go to a Cost Cutters when I was out of town but there’s just too much hit-or-miss at those places.
Ai can seez yew, but yew can’t seez me.
I don’t actually cut my hair for the people looking at it. I cut it so it’s easier for me to take care of it.
If my hair takes more than 2 minutes out of my morning (shampoo and comb) then it’s off to fix it.
Good morning to you. It’s warming up, here; we have a toasty 45 degrees, with a high forecast at 62. Heat wave! It’s overcast, which is probably why its so warm.
I have to go to Walmart for another little pot. I will reply to Walgreens about the steroid nebulizer meds, and then I will start my day.
Today is one of those days when nothing much is going to get done, but three of the Peeps are going to visit Chuck. Since I know where it is, I will probably be elected to drive. LuDean doesn’t like to drive in traffic any more than I do, but I know where this place is, and we will be in her car. I don’t think anyone would be comfy in the BB SUV, especially Charlie, with his long legs and damaged knees. (He was hit by a car about 10 years ago and it broke both his knees. He walks every day so that he doesn’t stiffen up permanently.)
I hope you all have a nice visit! I’m going to run the vacuum now. Maybe I’ll go upstairs and be loud and obnoxious to the girls, first ...
You’re working on a Full House...anybody got any 5’s or 6’s?
I vote for you being loud and obnoxious to the girls, first! Or maybe you already have. :o])
Approaching Siberian levels here...
A German shepherd in Siberia! LOL!
future STASI staffer, frau Merkel bow wow
Ach! Jawohl, Mein Herr!
