He did a pretty good job of hitting the therapists.

Of course he shouldn’t be a cop.

I haven’t really seen anyone defending this policeman in this incident. Maybe they are there, but I haven’t seen them.

I didn’t see anyone defending the policeman who accidentally shot a suspect when he intended to deploy his taser but instead discharged his pistol. That cop got 3-4 years in jail as a result.

And though I did see some attempts to defend the officer in North Carolina who shot the man in the back while he was running away, when the possibility of the suspect turning or attempting to turn the officer’s taser on him turned out not to be the case, then the defense mostly stopped. It was clear that he murdered the guy.

I think people generally know the elements of a justified homicide versus a criminal shooting.

There is no point in defending an officer who crosses the line. They gotta follow the rules just like we all do.

I’m definitely pro-police too, a bootlicker if you will, but I am only interested in the facts.

If the facts show a crime was committed, then charges must be pressed.

This cop could not hit the broad side of a barn.

No. No. Considering the angle and distance seen in the video and considering the two targets were not holding still that is not an accurate statement. The guy he hit was on the ground and at least 25 yards away meaning that the cop had to shoot down at a very precise angle with a pistol under stressful conditions to even come close. If he had been using a rifle it probably would have been an easy shot. But no, it was definitely the officer’s judgment and not his marksmanship that is in question here. It is very likely that he could hit the “broad side of a barn” or even a normal target placed on said barn with no difficulty at all. ; )

So add bad marksmanship skills to bad situational awareness, bad judgement and most probably improper temperament.

The guy belongs in retail security and is not someone who should be sent out in public with a loaded gun.

Okay okay so he can hit the broad side of a barn but not an autistic man who sitting down in the middle of the street playing with a toy truck? Oh that puts trust in my police force so much.

The unidentified North Miami police officer thought Charles Kinsey — who was lying on his back with his arms in the air — was in danger, his union chief said.

Why was he on the ground with his hands up? That's right... that's what the cops ordered him to do. If they truly thought he was in danger, they would have provided cover while telling the therapist to get out of the scene, not lie down helplessly next to the would-be assailant.

Might want to check out this thread. All sorts of excuses for why it happened.

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/3451393/posts

I’m not anti-law enforcement, the vast majority of law enforcement officers do a great job in difficult circumstances day in and day out.

But there is a serious problem with “the thin blue line” idea where good cops protect bad cops because they are all shield-brothers.

Body cameras and dash cameras should be required for all law enforcement to protect both law enforcement and citizens. Just imagine what would have happened to this case had it not been filmed. It would have been swept under the rug because cops don’t turn on cops.

How was the cop supposed to know that the toy truck was not loaded?

Well, wasn't the cop justified because a truck had just been used by a terrorist in Nice, France, to mow down and kill 84, and injure 200 plus additional victims? How was he to know that the autistic guy wasn't going to run over the therapist with his toy truck?

Also as to handcuffing the guy they did shoot, just parse his profession. They heard him say he was "the rapist". . . explains everything. The police were convinced he had to have been guilty of something!

Now doesn't that sound reasonable? What? It doesn't?

The cop was in the wrong but I’m disgusted by the media’s way of handling it. They are treating it as “Black shot by White cop”.
But it was not intentional! the cop was trying to kill the White kid! But that doesn’t count! The mentally-challenged White kid doesn’t count!

Damn the media!

It was a military style toy truck.

Are you trying to say it was an assault truck?

I am just funning with you. I will say that I worked with police for many years and most were very competent. But there are a lot affirmative action hires as well. These are people who are hired to make sure that the percentage of minorities on the department are the same as the surrounding population. this is done all over the country.

Sometimes they have to go a long ways down the list to get the people they want. This means that the most qualified candidates are not the ones hired, and that can be a little scary at times. I have seen some really stupid things done and most of the stupid things were done by affirmative action hires.

I knew lots of cops when I was a kid. Lots of them were proud they never had to draw their weapon in 30 years. I’ll also say the perps were a lot more docile in those days.

There in lies the problem, I don’t even know that the cop was white. We don’t know yet who the cop was, and in the video I can clearly see some black cops. I do agree however that they make a big deal about this being a black therapist being shot. Why can’t they just say “therapist”? Does not matter the man’s skin color what matters is the man was doing his job and the cops should have left him alone to do it. As for shooting the man with autism, well not like that has happened before, but usually it’s been a person with down syndrome. Only one of those was justified as the kid had stolen a car and would not stop. I will side with the police on that one, the kid could have killed someone had they not stopped him.

I know, that’s why I’m funning back. I have known a few good cops in my day but what is going on now I just don’t get. Seems like the good ones got old and retired. What we have now are idiots who can’t handle their own weapon. Barney Fife did a better job than this man.

Actually, he should be in a jail cell. What he did was almost take someone’s life, and it was not for lack of trying that he did not succeed. If anyone else had did what he did, they would be charged with attempted murder. For those on here that teeheehee it, wait until they are on the business end of one of the bullets and then see what a song that they sing. Once you are dead, you don’t come back to life. That was a very serious thing he did.

I'm sure the Officer's aim was accurate and true,it was that pesky gun that decided to go rouge.

Hate when that happens:)
