It's much older than ten years, but Local Hero is an excellent, understated film. From that same time frame, The Right Stuff is a work of art, but it didn't do well at the box office (the public suspected it was intended to spotlight John Glenn, then a presidential candidate). Many people still know nothing about the film.

From only a few years ago, though, Sarah's Key is about some of the things the French would rather not remember about WWII.

I like Cop and Robbers movies.

One of the best I have ever seen was “Prince of City” starting Treat Williams and Jerry Orbach. It is about crooked New York narcotic cops in the 1970’s. Sort like Serpico only much better. Very low key with no obvious heroes or villains.

“Primer”.
Excellent time travel movie.
You wouldn’t guess it was made on an ultra low budget.

All low-budget sleepers, the ten year expiration date is past, but I'll put them up anyway:

Eastern Promises is excellent and one of the two movies I chose when I started this delicious thread. I've always been fascinated and curiously intrigued by organized crime and it's adherents.

I wrote a HS book report on the Right Stuff back in 1983.
it was the first movie i ever saw on VHS video Tape.
Watched it over my aunts house, she was the only person i knew at the time that had a VHS.

Me and the GF just watched it again 2 weeks ago.
Surprisingly she LOVED it.

One of those long movies i hoped would never end..

#5 Star Trek Beyond was beyond muddled.
The stranded crew just happens to be by a federation starship from the past which just happens to be sitting on top of a jagged mountaintop by a sheer drop that was needed to restart the engines as they drive over the sheer drop... plus it had a motorcycle on board.

Was hoping to catch a cheap daytime matinee of ST next week but i’m thinking of just waiting till November for the Blu-Ray or on-demand.

The other two basically sucked anyway..

Happy, Texas, with Steve Zahn, William H. Macy,(a favorite), and Illeana Douglas, about escaped cons who masquerade as gay little girl pageant directors with hilarious results. (spoiler alert), Macy's character is gay, too.

Children of Men Trailer HD

It is one of my most favorite SciFi movies ever. The cinematography is some of the best ever put into a movie. Good acting and lots of near future worries salted in. (Refugees flooding into first world countries, society being overwhelmed and starting to crumble from the pressure etc.)

It didn't do very well at the box office but it is a very good movie.

My Life As A Dog

A very sweet movie, but not cloyingly so. It’s older than ten years, so I guess it fits in the “or so” category.
