NASA’s new climate model of ancient Venus shows a picture of a habitable world

For a 2-billion-year-long span, ending about 715 million years ago, Venus was likely a much more pleasant spot that it is today. To observe Venus now is to witness a dry and toxic hellscape, where the planet heats up to a scorching 864 degrees Fahrenheit. A super-strong electric wind is believed to suck the smallest traces of water into space. With apologies to Ian Malcolm, life as we know it could not find a way.

But travel back in time a few billion years or so. Ancient Venus, according to a new computer model from NASA, would have been prime solar system real estate, to the point it may have been downright habitable.

That life would find Venus amenable hinges on two main factors. Venus would have needed much balmier temperatures, and it also would have needed a liquid ocean — which is a significant if, although elemental traces such as deuterium indicate water existed on Venus at one point. As Colin Wilson, an Oxford University planetary physicist, told Time in 2010, “everything points to there being large amounts of water in the past.”

Venusian temperatures, too, appear to have been far cooler when the solar system was younger. NASA’s Goddard Institute for Space Studies, in a report published Thursday in the journal Geophysical Research Letters, calculated that the average surface temperature 2.9 billion years ago was about 50 degrees Fahrenheit. Such temperature would have made Venus, surprisingly for a planet closer to the Sun, a bit chillier than Earth was at the time.

Even with all their Earth monitoring satellites they can’t create a valid case of how this liberal Climate Change model makes sense. Repositioning, recalibration, aligning instruments and a plethora of horseshit explanations abound.

Why on God’s Green Earth would anyone believe that NASA could predict and validly assess the climate on another planet. The mind boggles with the inanity of this article.

Looking at that model, I can almost see a long haired hippie smoking killer climate model alien pot sitting on a sandy beach watching the waves crash man.

This government can even get unemployment numbers, weather or climate, or anything else right so why would I have any reason to believe a NASA which has been tasked to promote Islam?

If Venus is closer to the sun than Earth how could it be colder? A bit hard to believe.

Of course it was ... these are the same people who used to imagine that Venus was the Earth just with hotter and with more clouds ... until I. Velikovsky came along and predicted what the geniuses at NASA were to later find was scientific truth.

Venus was always like it is and it is likely not more than a few dozens of thousand years old. Both Mars and the Moon have near identical cratering heavy on one side light on the other as if something big came very close to both.

A day on Venus takes 243 of our days, longer than it takes it to orbit the sun. Then planet was never the paradise these retards make it out to have been - a sun baked hell for half the year and freezing the other half. The greenhouse effect is the only mechanism for ‘moderating’ the planet’s temps.

Exactly. Anything climate related coming out of NASA is most likely a politically funded lie.

A computer model is a program. A program is not reality. This is supposition, aided by a computer program.
