Should U.S. pay reparations for slavery? U.N.-appointed experts think so

A United Nations working group is getting into the fray on U.S. racial discrimination. After 14 years, and 20 days of speaking with U.S. officials, activists, and families of people killed by police in major American cities, it has issued its conclusions: the slave trade was a crime against humanity and the U.S. government should pay reparations.

“Contemporary police killings and the trauma it creates are reminiscent of the racial terror lynching in the past,” a French member of the working group of U.N. experts, Mireille Fanon-Mendes-France, said after their meetings in the U.S.

The U.N. experts traveled to major cities including: Washington D.C., Baltimore, Jackson, Mississippi, Chicago, and New York City. --- The recent decision by Georgetown University to offer several hundred descendants of slaves preferential admissions has raised the profile of reparations for the slave trade. And, several years ago, both the U.S. Senate and House, in separate bills -- which never was passed as law -- apologized for slavery and Jim Crow legislation, but were divided over the issue of reparations. We currently are - and have been - paying reparations in some form or fashion for decades.

They should have called it reparations from the start. Now the rest of us are slaves, with no end in sight except death - and then they want what we leave behind.

The Just Us Brothers have been shaking down businesses and politicians for so long we now expect it and joke about it.

Well, it's not funny. The UN matches the wickedness in our White House and they all believe this is possible to do. They are of one mind and are in collusion. They all need to go!

Get the US out of the UN and get the UN out of the US!

Yes, exactly. I would like some so-called “journalist” to ask her if she is planning to pay reparations for slavery, if she is elected. I am sure that when she is done answering, there will be no “yes” or “no” answer to pick out of the pile of words.

“What about all the other countries that participated in the slave trade?”

The major traders were Spanish, French, and Portugese.
Most slaves were transported to Brazil and the Caribbean. 1.3 million to French Haiti alone.

Only about 6 percent of all Africans shipped across the Atlantic were taken to North America. The largest numbers went to Brazil and to the Caribbean. ........The newly founded United States was home to 700,000 enslaved people (one million lived and toiled in Brazil at the same time).

So the UN selectively points at America?

Don’t forget the Africans who captured other Africans and sold them into slavery. How much are their descendants on the hook for?

Don’t forget the Africans who captured other Africans and sold them into slavery.

Don't forget all the blacks who owned slaves.

There were thousands of black slaver owners. More than 3,000 in New Orleans alone. And there were black slave breeders. They sold their own children into slavery.

Whats good for the goose . . .

If the UN pushes for reparations, perhaps the world should also push for reparations from the UN given their complicity in much of the bloodshed and horror resulting from their adaptation of a conflicting standard of human rights - The Cairo Declaration of Human Rights (human rights based exclusively on sharia law).

Don’t forget the Gullahs in the Carolinas, who were never slaves, but came over here as indentured servants, serving about 7 years to pay back the people who brought them over here. When their bills had been paid, they were given property and animals and were free. And how about my ancestor who rescued a former slave as the soldiers began their walk home from Mississippi to Kansas City when the war ended. When they arrived home, my great grandfather found them a home right across the street from them and also found him a job. He was still living across the street from my relatives in 1880, according the the census for that year.

Maybe if some hammerass at the U.N. had any concept of American History, they would have known that over 660,000 men died during the Civil War and millions more were injured. I would think that that is more than enough “repatriation” for the whiners. Get a history book, U.N. morons, and see what we paid for the freedom of the Negro.

I was born in America and that makes me a Native American. So, give me some of that repatriation cash.
