N.J. dad: Why my daughter asked, 'Will President Trump deport my friend?' | Opinion
NJ Advance Media for NJ.com ^ | November 9, 2016

Over the past week, my eight-year-old daughter had a persistent worry which my wife and I kept trying to tamp down: that if Donald Trump got elected, her friends with immigrant parents would be forced to leave the country.

We tried to reassure her that that was unlikely — even if Trump won. But on Wednesday morning, after we told her Trump was indeed headed to the White House, there were tears nonetheless, and another heartbreaking expression of worry for her friends.

Parenting and politics collide. I hadn't even made a pot of coffee yet. There's been a lot written in the past few days about "What do we tell the children" in the face of a Trump. How do we address the rise of a man who says things they've known since pre-K they'd be suspended for saying themselves? There have been countless tweets and water cooler conversations between parents about how their kids are upset and anxious over a Trump victory.

Dear, we know you like your little friend. But you need to realize something. Right now she is little like you and you play together, but 10-15 years from now she is going to steal your job and will probably even be your boss - would you like that?

No way, can we deport her now dad?

A female employee of mine whose grandparents are American citizens from Quebec or New Brunswick, told me they were terrified they’d have to go as of Wednesday morning. The absurdity of such posture requires no discussion. This is the handiwork of what passes for media in the modern USA. What we know as the MSM is irredeemable. Hopefully, New Media will take this opportunity and become a force for truth in our great Nation.

You can tell your daughter this. “Well, sweetie, if your friend is a criminal because she is in this country without permission, that would be like someone breaking into our home. You would expect the police to come and take that person away, wouldn’t you? Now let’s talk about your choice of friends ...”

Remember the Republicans pushing Granny over the cliff in a wheel chair? These Dems will stop at nothing to create fear.

Fearful people are much easier to manipulate and control.

If they don’t have “papers” then they aren’t immigrants - they are illegal aliens.

Lying fake story. Versions of this have been all over.

A responsible dad would have explained to Precious Princess that her friend’s parents are criminals and should be deported and/or be imprisoned. Being deported is a lot less stressful on families than prison sentences. Trump didn’t drag imaginary friend’s family kicking and screaming across the border, they chose to commit the crime all by their own accord. IOW, Trump, being the good man that he is, is correcting a wrong and keeping families together.

Internet BS story. (made up or composite family)

If true, this is exactly what is wrong with this country.

The child must be ignorant and the parents oblivious of reality.

“We live in a mostly Latino neighborhood of largely Mexican and Salvadoran immigrants. Many of them don’t have papers.”

PAPERS? My DOGS have PAPERS! What you really mean is that they are ILLEGAL ALIENS.

STOP! ****** DID I CALL HISPANICS *** DOGS ***?

I DID NOT! ***** All of you PC people, can drop dead.

Now, as I was saying...

ILLEGAL: As in having entered our country illegally and continue breaking our laws by remaining here.

ALIENS: NOT OF THIS COUNTRY. Foreigners, who don’t belong here and who have no RIGHT to be here.

Have you called INS about the all those “illegals” that are squatting in your neighborhood?

Why not? Is it just because you share an ethnicity with them?

You RACIST!

Race before country. Race before the law. Race first in everything = RACISM.

Are you an “American” family or a “Hispanic” family? Do you live in the United States of America, (a nation of LAWS) or are you pretending that you live in Hispania (a racist nation)? While of course enjoying all the benefits of living in the United States.

“Many of them don’t have papers.”

Which means, that they are ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Yes, that’s right, ILLEGAL ALIENS.

Don’t let these a**h*** control the language. Fight back.

"What do we tell the children?"

Good God, liberals are so stupid and pansy. It is a perfect time for a civics lesson for your daughter. Tell her that if her friend's parents obeyed the law and emigrated her legally they have nothing to worry about. On the other hand, if they are illegal alien invaders, they will be deported according to the laws that have been on the books for over a century. Tell her that, if they are Mexican, the laws in their home country are MUCH more restrictive than here in the U.S and they NEVER would have been allowed to sneak in illegally and stay as illegals so long. They would have been sent to prison and then deported. Tell her that the U.S. has been extremely "gracious" to illegals here and has overlooked their lawbreaking for decades, but it is time to control immigration or we will otherwise fail to be a nation in any sense.

Honestly, Mr. & Mrs. Liberal, is that so hard to tell your daughter?

Of course he can tell they don’t have papers. They whisper “Hey! Senor! Want to buy a taco?” from his pulled open trench coat. They slink and slither from shadow to shadow, all the while casting furtive glances around looking for INS.

“Yes, honey. Your friend’s mommy and daddy broke the law. If I robbed a bank or something, they would send me to jail and then we would be separated. But that’s not going to happen. Be glad YOUR mommy and daddy obey the law, unlike your friend’s.”

I agree 100%.

After 911 I was in line at the grocery store. This was in an upper middle class neighborhood in San Jose CA. In front of me was a Mom and her young daughter. There were all the tabloids there with pictures of the Towers. The daughter asked if they were going to blow us up too. The Mom said that the daughter did not have to worry because “We are special.”

I caught up with the Mom in the parking lot and told her she needed to tell her daughter the truth. I told her that properly done the daughter could handle it. About half way throught the conversation I realized that the woman acutally believed what she had said and SHE did not want to believe the truth. I was stunned and just walked away.
