Maybe Donald Trump knows exactly what he’s doing with these Cabinet picks
The Washington Post ^ | 2 Dec, 2016 | Chris Cillizza

When Donald Trump was elected president three weeks ago, many Democrats -- and even some Republicans -- openly fretted about whom he would pick to be in his Cabinet. Would he appoint only loyalists who affirmed his views? People with zero experience? People no one had ever heard of?

With the announcement Thursday of Gen. James Mattis as his pick for secretary of defense, Trump continues to demonstrate that those early worries were way off base. In fact, Trump's Cabinet choices -- and some of his potential choices -- reflect a political savviness that many people haven't been willing to grant the president-elect.

Trump took on the entire political establishment in D.C. and handed the. Their own arses and yet they still try to condescendly judge Trump as if he is a noob. He is a self-made real-estate billionaire and a media mogul who is now the President of the United States via a hostile takeover of the aRepublican Party. As far as I am concerned the GOPe and the Washington establishment have been playing baby-town frolicks and Trump will be making them look stupid from here on out.

Oh, and f**k what the creepy Chico s want. That game is over.

Amen! The entire federal bureaucracy needs to be taken to the woodshed and given a savage beating.

Yes, it looks like the MSM and dimocRATs are playing checkers while Trump is playing 3-Dimension chess.

Whichever candidate that elicits the loudest howls from the Left is my choice.
+++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
That is a damn good rule-of-thumb. The more those scumbags howl the more confidence we can have that Trump has made another good decision.

Holder's law firm was legally defending the jihadists in Gitmo so the left knew of him. 0bama picked him so it must have seemed like a good thing to 'bammy.

Hell he’ll have to really set his mind to it because it will be difficult to make them look even MORE stupid than they already do!

WaPo press credential is scheduled for renewal...

Cancellation is probably a reasonable response.

Make the Alt-Left press stand outside without an umbrella.

That is a message too, and he gets to muzzle a b!tch that had it in for him, and she is replaced by a very pro-Trump new governor. Message is screw the UN. I am sending you a putz. I have no respect for you. Brilliant moves IMHO.

I am 100% behind Trump’s selection. The way politicians have ruined this nation, I am of the opinion “political experience” is a negative.

He also needs to find a way to get rid of much of the mid-management level throughout all the bureaucracies as well, as they are steeped in the failed ways. Perhaps offer a retirement incentive package.

Yes, that is how he became a multi-billionaire in NY real-estate- hiring yes men and incompetents.

Has it ever occurred to you, the managing editors, of the COMPOST that you are in the pickle you are in because you hire people who just affirm the accepted wisdom, reiterate the talking points and are incapable of independent thought and analysis?

I know that this will probably make a lot of people feel better and feel that some sort of justice has been meted out. I hope that you don't for a second believe that somehow inept bureaucrats will become competent and dedicated servants of the American people just because they got the beating they full well deserve.

In his choice of Mattis, Rep. Tom Price for health and human services and Elaine Chao for transportation, Trump has gone outside of his direct inner circle and chosen people who are, by almost any estimation, qualified for the jobs to which they have been nominated.

Boy they don't get it at all. In putting Elaine Chao at Transportation, Trump is paying McConnell for protection. Now, it only pays off for McConnell if Trump has no problem with his other nominees and Chao doesn't stab him in the back and need to be removed publicly. Serve successfully and Chao can enjoy all the D.C. rewards of being a cabinet secretary present or former. It's brilliant. Trump doesn't even really pay. Of all the agencies that he needs to deal with I suspect that transportation is near the bottom of his list of worries. Trucks are trucking. Planes are flying, and if work is needed on the roads, well Transportation is mostly a pass-through agency for money to the states.

Trump is just used to a much meaner game with much tougher dudes that the Post is used to dealing with.

Absolutely. Trump immediately got Reince Priebus to pull leadership out of the RNC. Since then he has been dismantling all of his enemies. Brilliant!

The best part is that I bet Mitch didn’t even know he was going to be running a protection racket. Now he is so owned!

From the article:

(Sessions's nomination was scuttled by the Senate due to racially-charged comments he had made in the past.)

This is why media approval ratings are in the low double digits. These comments were alleged but denied and never credibly supported.
